I've never had an issue connecting the Nav V to my Mac, but ran into issues yesterday. At first it connected, then when halfway through an update it disconnected. Now when I plug the Nav in, the Mac doesn't even see it. I've tried resetting the Nav, and rebooting the Mac, but it won't see the connected device/ drive.

I even deleted the Nav in Garmin Express, with the view of reattaching it, but the Mac can't even see that it's connected.

Anyone have any ideas?

Have you put el Capitan on the mac ?

If so that may have altered the settings so that you just cant see the device in the finder LH pane

There is a Mac App called garmin downloader which you could get and try to see if that helps

The USB leads can be sensitive have you tried a different one

Other than that you will have to sell your bikes and NAV 5 as they are clearly worn out

Nope, I haven't installed El Capitan, as I'm running an older version of Parallels, so don't want to rock the boat. I'll be getting a new Mac soon, so would rather leave it as is. As the old saying goes "if it ain't broke……..":D

Anyway, I've managed to get the Nav to show on the Mac eventually, so the technical solution of turning it off and on again seems to have sorted it!:beerjug::D

Maps now updated.

I hate technology sometimes!

I have a proper Mac, not some sort of hybrid Parallel PC.

I have now three Nav V's.

My Mac detects all three devices at very different speeds, one taking sometimes five minutes to be recognised.

I have no idea why they differ. They are all connected with same USB lead and are all running the latest software.

I can only guess that, as my Mac also detects the devices' memory cards, the recognition speeds might differ there.

Had the same problem with my desktop iMac and Nav 5, until someone on here suggested that if anything else was connected using USB1 then the Mac wouldn't find the Nav 5 .... disconnected the USB hub I had (printers and scanners connected) plugged the Nav 5 in to the Mac .... sorted :thumb

How did you make it work Nutty? I've never made my Nav5 connect to the mac - a big part of why I hate the Nav5 and still love my Zumo550 so much...

Make sure you're using the Garmin supplied usb lead, no other usb devices connected apart from mouse or keyboard. No usb hubs. Turn on the device after connecting to Mac first.

I turned the Mac on and off, it then managed to detect the Nav. As Wapping says, sometimes it can take a few minutes to detect it, so plug it in, walk away, and it should eventually find it.

As its much like a Zumo 660, I would search zumoforums.com for a reply or ask if not there already.
