Do you look over or through the screen??

What about vibration of the screen - any change??

Cant say i've noticed any real vibration with my secdem, i look over the top of the screen it doesnt interfere with my line of vision at 6 foot tall on a corbin seat.

Does look a bit of a dogs breakfast. Just put the NWS hugger on as well and it'd look a right treat:)

Fitted a Secdem Screen today and what an improvement over the standard.
The wind noise has disappeared to a very acceptable level even at 110 MPH.
No noticable buffeting, but I wasnt afected with the standard either.
Only slight drawback is that my mirrors catch the edge of the screen on full lock with the scren in the lowest position.

Doesn't sound too good. How bad is the clash? I'm assuming you cannot move the mirrors to sort?

New Screen from Nippy Norman

Out yesterday with the new Secdem screen and whilst generally much better I agree that it does seem to be a little more susceptible to cross winds. I am not 100% sure of this.

Motorway travel much improved overall and I did stay much cleaner.

I am not sure about the full lock issue. Mine was fine and I had it set on the lowest position.

More than happy generally but yesterday was the first day out and only 200 miles done so far.

Not that bad, the screen will flex anyway so it doesnt prevent full lock.

May be able to adjust the mirrors but I'll look at that when I get it out of hibernation.

Moving in a few weeks so dont have time to play anymore.

MRA screen

Does it matter on a GS what it looks like ? The main thing surely is that it (hopefully ) provides the protection without buffeting or noise to the rider!
The bonus would appear to be the range of adjustment to both the screen and the foil at the top edge,
Just my two,pennuth!

I'm certainly interested. Will it deflect snow and rain over my head?
I rode several hundred miles in the past week's bad weather wiping snow off my visor every few seconds, I have now taped a 100mm temporary extention to my standard screen. Very temporary as it increases the vibration on the screen that was never quite sorted by replacing the previous mounting screws.
The tinted screen also looks good!!

I Like it

Well interested and I like the look of it and if it works all the better I like the black bottom saves all that fiddly cleaning will order one when I go back to work, thumbs up from me aswell

I have been in contact with MRA in Germany.

The Vario Touring screen is 47CM larger than standard

BUT

I have a Vario Screen (not 'Touring') on my 1150 and they should be available for the 12 at the end of April. They are 50CM larger than standard, but no pictures yet.

Tried the screen out for the first time this weekend - did a 400mile round trip with it fitted.

Once I got it adjusted (1 notch up from lowest - 5'11" rider) it was rather good. No buffeting, small amount of wind noise. Rain / flies hit the screen and not your visor at speed. The top of the screen comes level with the road about 15' in front.

I'd definately recommend this screen. It does change the looks of the bike slightly, but worth the benefits. Does make you ride faster:rolleyes:

Paging Tobers, Paging Tobers...

Tobers - I tried to PM you but this feature has been disconnected by the administrator...
Anyway I guess quite a few board users will be interested in this topic.
Sometime ago you mentioned that you were experimenting with a tobinated Sedcem screen. I'm curious to know if you have any results to report.
I have Tobinated the original screen and found this to improve its performance but I am interested in getting more wind protection/noise reduction for high speed cruising.
I am thinking of buying the Sedcem but can I tobinate it as well?
Any thoughts.

Hi aspad,

Yes indeed, you can put your 1200 Tobinators on the Secdem with no problems at all. Same fitment as on the standard screen.

I found that the Secdem screen resulted in better wind protection but there was a curious thrumming noise at motorway speeds which I tuned out when I fitted the Tobinators to raise the front of the screen a tadge.

I found the Secdem to be pretty poor in the completely upright position due to the upward "kick" in the screen profile. It definitely works best leant back, but you lose height and therefore wind protection that way, but you can use your Tobs to regain that height whilst still keeping it leant back.

I went back to the standard screen as I wasn't overly keen on the looks of the Secdem.

Cheers

Andy
