Cheers for the reply and the link, been off the road for over a month now and the bikes only done 250 miles so I didn't want to have to change the front and the rear.
roadsmart1 not available for the new lc but the roadsmart2 is available now,had mine fitted Friday gone and the best wkend riding with decent rubber since I got the lc over 10,000miles ago

.Appreciate these are fairly new but has anyone got close to wearing out a rear yet? If so what kind of mileage are we looking at? Also, what's the difference between the road, GT and trail specs? About to finish off a PR2 rear and interested![]()
Can't comment on the 4's but I had 3's on the 1150 last summer, our Dutch barman also had them on his 650 V-Strom. Both bikes use the same size tyres. I had the standard road version rear, Wilf had the trail version. My rear was knackered (apart from the centre of the tread) in a little over 4,000 miles. The V-strom has done about 500 miles more and still has a little left. The roads here are twisty and the surface grippy and much harder on tyres than in the UK. By comparison the previous Bridgestones lasted about the same but managed more than 6000 miles in the UK.
All things being equal I would go for the road versions again. The difference is that the edge compound extends closer to the centre than on the trail version. I would like to find out what the GT version offers. We can't ride until April so that is all I can add until we get to test the latest tyres. If they grip as well and last longer I will be very happy.

Thanks for the info - much appreciated. I had similar experiences with the PR3's - i.e. excellent tyres but the rears just don't last hence I went back to a PR2 on the rear and run a PR3 on the front. If the PR4 GT provides better mileage then I'll probably go for one of those next. Thanks![]()
If you read what I said about tyre wear then I don't think you can come to the conclusion that mine didn't last. I think 4000 miles of very twisty roads with what could be said to be brisk progress is acceptable. As I pointed out I would expect to get at least 6000 miles from the rear in the UK, about the same as I got in 2007 (the last year I live there) with Bridgestone BT021

I ended up getting less than 3000 miles out of a rear PR3 with UK only riding and mainly weekend blasts
