Looking for advice, tips, tricks, lightweight mobility scooter that can be stripped down and put in the boot of a car so not too heavy. Thanks in advance Stuart
I have a Topmate ES35 electric reverse tricycle that I bought last month direct from China. It cost me a total of £750 delivered and am delighted with how much freedom it has given me back (severe osteoarthritis both ankles) and it’s small footprint
It’s 10” wheels won’t allow off road capability but the battery gives about a 15 mile range and it quickly folds up it’s 17kgs to store indoors or put in the car boot
Not strictly a Class 2 mobility scooter as it has three speed selections of 4, 8 and 15mph but no-one so far has questioned it’s use on...
We got my late father a used three-wheeled mobility scooter when he had a lower leg amputation due to diabetes complications. He had early signs of dementia so fiddled constantly with the control in confusion and one day he pulled the throttle trigger lever with full steering lock applied whilst the motor speed dial was set to max. It instantly surged forward/sideways and slung him off. He had to lie in the street until found and assisted back onto it by bystanders. A bloody lethal contraption in my opinion.
I would therefore only ever recommend a much more stable four-wheeled type of mobility scooter and ideally one that cannot just go instantly to full speed without a build up in acceleration from a standing start (if such a feature exists).
