Nick,
If you're on the 650, take spare clutch/brake levers, clutch/throttle cables, bulbs, fuses and a front inner tube (can be used on the rear at a push).
Motoworks sell 2nd hand stuff. Sell after the trip, or keep as spares.
Take that and nothing'll happen, take nothing..................
From personal experience, breakdown companies won't cover Morocco, even if they say they do.
The first year I went, we came across a guy who'd clipped a pothole ina car. He was with Mondial Assist (the French version I think) and their truck was 160km away. They would "get to him within 4hrs guarranteed................maybe"
BMW Insurance were looking at it, as their tours go there, but I understand they now have a van as back up.
If you're bikes in that bad a way, ie unrideable, a talk with the hotel desk where you are will produce a man with a van to take you and the bike to the border.
Push it over and call the breakdown co. Ceuta is part of Spain. If it's still an issue, push it onto the ferry and get them to meet you at Algeciras.
Again, from personal experience, a fistful of euros & some subtly sorts most things, including getting the bike thru the border without the owner/rider or paperwork
It's just like Mr Ben. As if from nowhere a little man appears and says "you need help?"
A small discussion away from everyone else and a van able to go thru the border appears and you're away.
Note; Your passport is stamped that you've bought a bike in. If you try and leave it without it, forget it - or more euros before you try and go thru the border. Leave it until you're about to go thru and you're in a world of poo.
We had a Dakar written off on the trip last May and they wanted £2k for him to be able to leave it in Marrakesh and fly out, hence the van scenario.............effectiveley as he was leaving it, he was importing it................
So basically, "A fistful of Euros" and you'll overcome anything.
HTH
Cheers
