My bike is fitted with auxilliary running lights but recently they have stopped working. Probably only a fuse or dodgy connection.

The question is, as the MOT is due in the next 2 weeks, if the lights are fitted (not standard) do they have to work?

That is, do I have to fix them or remove them before the MOT?

its 15 yrs since i was an MOT tester but i think if they're fitted they've got to work.

bit like indicators.

depends on how matey the tester is ?

That having ben said, fix the lights ya lazy fekker :D

I will - eventually - but having knocked down the back wall of the garage, I have been assigned more important  tasks for this weekend

Thanks Eddie, but I took Judge's advice  and fixed them!

After dismantling the instrument pod (where the wires disappeared to) and finding that the relay was working, I traced it to a corroded connection in the lead to the battery.

It would have been easier if I had fitted them myself and new where the wiring went ;)

So all I have to do now is remember to book the test.

Back to the joinery and bricklaying

Down this part of the world you will find an MOT tester known as the "Blind man of Burnham" who runs the aptly named Dog Motorcycles. He passes any old heap of junk - just ask Mike O :D (just joking Mike).

I'm going to make a point of taking my R1150GS there for its first MOT in November just so I can get the certificate stamped by Dog Motorcycles. Seems quite apt for the rusty old heaps of shite that the 1150's turn into after 3 years
