Mudsling update

Skid06, if you can make a hugger which covers the wheel from the front and connects to the standard rear BMW guard arm you will make a fortune,

The gap between the two guards needs closing

I have just noticed, all observant like, that Nippy Norman's advert at the top of this page flashes between Nippy's logo and MudSling.

How piss boiling can that be?

Insensitive beyond belief! Someone should complain.

i wish Rich its an industrial unit inside the prison where i work runs 24/7 knockin out designer chairs, loads of stuff for skrewfix etc :D im going to take mine in when it comes to show them, they'll die on the spot laughing when i tell what i paid for it:D

do it do it do it

just keep to moulding it, eh, its too damn hard, long and expensive to do it in ally - one of us, somewhere, has got to be able to help Nuts FFS :-)

yes good point, I think it would offer more coverage but also I agree with Dave H - it could look a bit `odd`!

And I wish I had a pound for every time someone said `you will make a fortune............ `

Hideous, Perhaps

OK I agree in the above case (Hesketh Vorton)

But can be beautifully functional,

but not on a GS.

Talked to a Diavel rider on a camping holiday,

said the rear mudguard was really good, (look how it hugs the wheel above and below the swingarm) but nothing he could do about the
front.

Lets not forget the humble beginnings of the GS range, a lot of effort went into fitting effective mudguards.

Perhaps getting the looks just right is the reason mudslinger have taken so long?

I overlooked the obvious, they are developed by Mudsling and probably the tooling is shipped to China for manufacture. The massive container ship http://www.boreme.com/posting.php?id=17257&page=4 is probably unloading in California now, train across the USA, load back onto another container ship for the Atlantic run, 21 days to clear customs, few days to delivery to Nippy Normans, few days to unpack and post out.
25000 BMWs sold, many will be fitted with a mudslinger, probably costs a few pounds to make, the potential profits are huge.

I wonder if that container ship has a Costa Coffee on board.....na, only 13 crew and 15000 containers, that's a lorra Mudthingys

Now available for purchase on Nippy Normans - delivery March

Just be aware that NN's take the full amount for the order now (at least using PayPal) and unlike some who were offered an early bird discount to £119 you will not be given the same deal for putting your money up! ........

Crowd Funding, don't you just Love it? Oh wait a Mo, they don't take the cash up front!

I bought a used Mudsling but then I don't have an LC.

The long hugger need not be ugly after all the TUV shovel is no super model.

It needs to be no wider than the tread and can be supported on such as a powerbronze bracket and the shovel itself. Use Dzuz fastenings and it can be quickly removed for cleaning, dry rides or heaven forbid - offroading.

I've checked out alloy mudguards but the widest available is 6" not quite enough to fully cover a 150 tyre. Fibreglass is another option cheap generic/universal stuff appears on ebay from time to time.

Those Crud Catchers, really do look pants and spoil the natural lines of the bike:barf

Pants eh? IMHO they don`t look too bad and help with protection to that part of the engine. I wish BMW did something - I could stay in bed or go out riding my bike!

Thankfully beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

With that said, it nearly goes without saying that I respect your views JB as you are a good fella (please contact me if there is anything I can do to help at anytime) and have been kind enough to help me in the past so no worries with your respected opinion and without doubt I`ve certainly benefitted from your help and kind honest criticism pal!

But anyway - back on thread - lets hope the mudsling comes through as soon as possible! I hear we are in for more rain................

Yes I admit I am one of the nutters who have added to NN coffers with my £119, just to rub salt into the wound the NN automated email system has mailed me to ask if I would like to review the purchase of my Mudsling!

Who said Norman doesn't have a sense of humour! :)

Thanks Mark, maybe 'pants' was a bit harsh

They do a job undoubtably - but I'm not keen on the looks, plus they make thorough cleaning harder unless removed each time

Shame that BMW have seen fit to reduce the mudguard & bashplate size on each subsequent GS

Progress NOT

Earlier Pre 1200 bikes don't really need them or their owners are less prissy :)
