Mudsling update

Shamone, my wife was splattered from the back of her helmet to her boots.
BMW can make no excuses for this ridiculous weather protection. £11000+ and we are waiting for Nippy Normans £120 solution to a crap design.
Crap when it was originally designed, yet 18 months later mk11, the adventure comes along and its just the same?
What excuse can anybody make for this? What excuse can Nippy or mudslinger make for the delay?
Better engine, better handling, better brakes yet almost any bike from the 60S had better mud guarding.

I'm not sure the Mudslinger will sort out the dirty back problem if it's the same style as was fitted to the TC bike.

There is a lot of dirt come from under the seat sides and it hopefully will sort this out., but a rear number plate extension keeps it from spraying up directly on the back.

I think it's the standard mudguard thingy attached to the swingarm which is causing the spray up the back of the bike - it seems to be causing some kind of vortex.

No other bike I've owned except my 2009 GS has got anywhere near as mucky. I've just ordered an Ilmberger hugger to hopefully solve the issue.

I'm not convinced about that, Steve.... :nenau

At the moment, I don't see that a Mudsling will make a big difference..... :nenau

I hope the hugger will stop the spray to the sides (it did on my old GS, as did the Mudsling), but it's the spray up the back which is bigger problem - Trudi's jacket is absolutely filthy.

Have you fitted a rear number plate defector?

They work quite well & following a GS with one fitted on a wet day, it seems to do the trick

Number plate deflector

If I fit one, does it mean I can get rid of that horrible bit of plastic suspended over the rear wheel? By the way Mark i have one of your clear light guards. Cracking piece of kit. Thank you.

I've removed the coal scuttle on the rear wheel on all the GSes I've owned. It's only function is to meet TÜV rear bumper height regulations and the only thing it achieves is to direct a jet of dirty water at the back of your legs. I haven't quite got round to fitting the number plate deflector that I had fitted to my previous bikes as I need to cut a bit off the top to get it to fit but it'll soon be on there.
