I'm having the same issue with the old routes clogging up the list of routes that can be imported. I have about 50+ routes from tours I did 5+ years ago, so now when I want to import a new one I have to search through this ever-growing list. Pain!In common with many Garmin devices, when you delete a route from the Trip Planner, it lives on within the device itself. This is good in that a route can be re-imported, if (for instance) you deleted a route by error or want to amend it. The trouble then comes in that the device then fills with lots and lots of deleted routes. This is not a problem per-se, as stored routes take up very little space. It is simply a problem in as as much as, I don’t want to be confronted with an every growing list of old deleted routes.
The only method I know to clear them out is to connect the XT to home computer and delete them from there. My question though is, has anyone had any success (short of a hard re-set) in deleting them any other way?
For example, if I buy a USB mini-B to USB C lead, will my iPad or iPhone or Samsung Android phone, see the XT as a drive, allow me to access the folder of old routes and delete them?
It seems odd that Garmin goes down the wi-fi connection route for software and map updates and makes route transfer very easy via Garmin Drive, but makes the clearing out of old routes so tricky. Why, on the XT itself, you cannot fully delete old routes, I don’t know. It would be fine if it flashed up a warming, asking if you were sure you wanted to delete the old routes, as the operation could not be undone but, no.
Anyone any ideas or know any method of deleting old routes WITHOUT using a home computer?
Thanks.
I'm using a BMW Navigator V (made by Garmin) and at home I use an iMac computer. When I had a "chat" with a guy from Garmin support, he basically said that I have to connect to a Windows computer and delete the old routes from there - but that's bullshit, isn't it?
If I can see all the files on the Garmin's internal storage from the Finder window (having made the Hidden / System files visible) I don't see why Garmin can say that it has to be done from a PC rather than a Mac. Surely the files the Garmin creates and stores in its internal memory are the same regardless of what computer you try to look at them from. Aren't they??
Anyway, looking through all the files on the whole of the internal storage, and on the SD card installed, I can't see any file at all that seems to be the one that would include the old deleted routes (that appear in the list that can be reimported).
Does anyone know the name and location of the file that contains these old routes? Is it one file that contains all the old routes, or one file for each route?
This is really driving me round the bend at the moment, and Garmin aren't any help whatsoever. All they said was that my device is now discontinued, and that I should use a PC rather than a Mac. Absolutely useless!
Someone please help!!

Moved from the XT sub-section, as the problem relates to a Nav V not an XT.
