I’m trialling the Nav VI as the Nav V has done nowt but play up since I bought it. I know (because I found out through trial and error) that the Nav V will ONLY read Mp3 format music files. Does anyone know if the Nav VI will read other formats?

Sorry as probably no help to you Phill, but it this day and age, I personally just stream (from iPhone via Bluetooth) stuff I want to listen from Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and so on. One of the main reasons I’ve upgraded to Nav VI from V

I don't know, but as the music player is a secondary function, and MP3 is the default lowest common denominator format, then I think it is unlikely that they have put any programming effort into supporting other formats. Might be worth looking at the specs of the latest Garmin unit in case the Nav VI is based on that.

I have a Nav 6 and was excited by the bluetooth streaming feature but found that it doesnt work all that well. Volume is controlled on the phone so you need to touch it and makes finding music a pain.

I’m with Fedarooney here... a mate has the VI and streams his iPhone to his Nav...
The problems I’ve found with that so far are; a) if you have been listening to the radio via the web recently, it streams that before any loaded music. Not a snag if you live somewhere urban with good & constant connectivity (that ain’t rural Wiltshire!)
And b) if the phone does deign to play any recorded tracks, you can’t see what is on/up next etc (small beans I know - but if you have tech, tech needs to work fully and correctly!) and controlling the music is slow/haphazard

The nav v or vi plays MP3 only , if you have other formats iTunes etc. It's easy enough to convert them if you want to put on an ad card in the nav. But as above plug your iPhone into the asccesory socket with a USB lead adapter and stream direct from iTunes ,Spotify etc.

You can select either iPhone/iTunes in options to play direct from your phone via Bluetooth on the nav6 or choose mp3 and play off the sdcard in the unit

I know I can convert audio format. I also know that I can load to an SD card in the unit... I was more aiming at the fact that when streaming, you get no indication on the screen of what track is playing etc. Minor issues I know but it’s screwing with my ocd.

You do get an indication of what’s playing, well you do on the 6. Just check the media box has been ticked in the Bluetooth settings, you will then get a new screen when you push the wonder wheel left or right.

I use Apple music on a iPhone and the Nav 6 with a BMW helmet, and I can Browse playlists skip tracks go back and fast forward,
Volume is also controlled with the wheelie thing on the left bar
I have found the volume is only set low on the phone by default when using any bluetooth headset, so all I do is before take off is turn the volume onto full before
taking off

I haven’t tried to adjust the volume with the wheel, will have a try today, I normally just use the wheel on the sena

How does the volume control on the wheel work? The only way I've found to adjust volume is on my phone/headset device. This is fine for music but the gps directions are too low to be heard when riding. I've read something about headsets needing to be compatible?

On the nav 6 (don’t no about the 5) go into the audio settings and you can adjust the nav instruction volume
