Looking for some help or pointers if possible,

I have a NAV V and an intermittent problem with the media player freezing, when this happens I get a noise through my headphones like a "stuck record noise"

Once the freeze happens I lose all voice comms from the NAV V and the only way to clear the fault is to switch off the bike and start again as I can see no way to restart the NAV whilst the ignition is on, unless I am missing something.
If I could get the fault to appear at will I would be happy to go back to the dealers to show the fault to them to see if they could suggest anything. Unfortunately though it happens at random and I cant guarantee it to happen when I arrive at the dealer.

I have it paired to a SHO-1 system,
I have tried a full reset and repairing on numerous occasions,
The memory card is a Sandisk 8gd extreme,
The NAV V has the most up to date software as does the Cardo SHO-1

Any thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
That's quite interesting as my riding buddy and myself have suffered the same problems with a Nav V and Sho 1 set up.
We normally find the media player 'jams' after speaking to each other for several minutes on the intercom. Therefor I half suspect the Sho 1. There has been a software update very recently from Cardo. We also found that turning the bluetooth off on our mobile phones helped improve the general reliability.
I was also getting 'music drop out' from the Nav V. This is 3 second pauses during playback of tracks from the Nav V SD card. This was meant to have been fixed by Garmin on the last but one software update. When I phoned Garmin last week the lady sent me a master reset instruction that I had not used before. When I did this it did fix the drop out issue and I have not suffered the jamming since. Here are the instructions sent;

Start with the device off and unplugged from power
To verify the device is powered off and not in standby mode, touch and hold down the power button until prompted to turn off the device
Touch and hold the lower right hand corner of the display portion of the touchscreen
Power on the device
"System" will appear on the screen for approximately 30 seconds
Remove your finger when the screen displays Loading...
The device will automatically reset. Follow the on screen prompts to set your locale and then place your device in an area with a clear view of the sky until it acquires satellites.

Although the master reset may erase all saved favorites, any loaded custom points of interest will remain intact on the device.

Thank you for the reply,

I have been back to the dealers with the problem.

I had become convinced it was not the SHO-01 as the bluetooth remained connected during the freezes.

The dealer has done a full reset of he NAV and suggested to continue to try using it until the problem reoccurs.
Up to now since leaving the dealers the problem has not happened again so I am hopeful the problem is sorted.

I'm having this exact problem with my newly purchased, fully updated Navigator V. I'm using the Cardo Q1 communicator.

The Dealership apparently completed a master reset - and if anything the problem is occurring more often.

Anybody else having this issue? Find a solution?

I had this problem with my 1st Nav V and now on my 2nd Nav V. I'm connected to a Cardo Scala Rider G9X.

If I am listening to my music and then my friend connects to my intercom, then we get too much distance or terminate the intercom link, the music might come back on but most of the time it sounds like dit....dit....dit....dit....dit....

I then have to reboot my G9X and start my music again. I've approached Cardo and they say the problem is with Garmin. I've approached Garmin and I can't seem to get past the front desk. They have asked me to reset both devices (which I have several times) and they have also asked me to set my Nav V into logging mode and send them the created log file (which I have done twice). That's as far as it's gone with Garmin (2 years now and they don't have an answer).

To me it seems like Garmin have just burried their head in the sand regarding this problem.

It's also nice (in a way) that I'm not the only user to have this problem. Garmin tell me that I'm the only user having this issue.

I have had similar problems since i did the latest software upgrade to the Nav 5. Using it with a Interphone F5MC.

I think there is a software bug in the Nav as it was fine before I stupidly did an update.

Mine seems to get confused when skipping media tracks. I have had it make strange noises and then get no media noise out unless I either restart the Nav or the BT headset, (the BT headset continues to work though for Nav prompts so its as if the Media connection to the bluetooth interface gets confused and decides to give up.

As you can see above, I replied to this thread back in May 15 but now I have an update.

After another year of frustration with the Cardo Sho 1 and Nav V set up I gave up and sold the Cardo on. But then I missed my music and direction calls so reinvestigated BT head sets that are compatible to Nav V. To my disappointment the BMW sets only fit into there own helmets but the chap at Pidcocks said most people are buying Sena units as they work well.
Read up on them and plumped for the 20S. Considerably less expensive that the Cardo. Now used it for five months and......No Jamming, No freezing, No having to "switch off & Switch back on again, Easy to Install, Easy to set and use. The only thing that does not work is volume control via the handlebar rotary dial. I am completely happy with the unit, the sound and its reliability.

I am positive there is a Blue Tooth clash between Cardo and the BMW system. Neither company wants to except responsibility leaving the poor punter frustrated and out of pocket.

I too am a very satisfied Sena 20s user. Faultless

And I believe that either BMW or Schuberth (I cannot remember which one, but it might be both) are switching to Sena on their latest helmet comms

Same here. I found that if you go to settings>bluetooth>disable bluetooth (uncheck the green tick at the top) then wait a few seconds then enable blue tooth, let it all repair it should work.

I've noticed that if I try to play my music straight away it will do this, if I wait a couple of minutes I find that "60% of the time, it works every time...." BMW's Nav 5 is the new Sex Panther.

Good comment! I'm drawing the same conclusion as I've been having problems with my G9X and Nav V every single time I go for a ride. I forget how many times Garmin have told me to reset my Nav V and Cardo just deny that there is a problem between the two devices. As you say, I'm frustrated and I feel out of pocket.

You can reset as many times as you like. Every time you get on the bike and switch the ignition back on it fails! When I was in Norway last year I got so sick of it I left the ignition on when I was taking photos! Cardo = garbage. My Sena 20S seems to like the Nav V so all the problems have gone.

I've now purchased a Sena 20s. I gave it a good testing yesterday and my conclusion is.......................it just works! :coold

I've given up playing music through the Nav5 if just fecking sucks, I just stream it from my phone.

I had problems with music and voice dropping out, took it to dealers and parts guy did an update of a language file - english and its been ok since?

looking through this forum as im having the same problem it only plays one track then stops , so playing music through the phone , but then while doing that i cant get directions from the nav
