A great read and fantastic pics Mike, a group of us toured the Dolomites 3 years ago, it's a trip I would repeat without changing a thing.

Mike - fantastic RR like others have said it feels like we have been on the trip riding alongside you.
I think there should be a Mike O lottery funded charity fund which pays you to go on trips every few weeks of the year so that Us Poor buggers stuck at work can read your ride reports and look at great pictures to cheer up our working days

I wasn't lucky with the weather - I went there when the weather was good, and wouldn't have gone if it hadn't been.
I wanted to go to the Dolomites last year, but we chose the wrong ten days - nearly all of Europe was socked in for the entire period - so we ended up in the Pyrenees instead. Get out of your flight schedule mind set
- I plan my itinerary day by day to ensure I go wherever the best weather is - there's no point going somewhere scenic if you can't see it...

Just got back from picking up the Adv from my local independent. As I guessed, it was the clutch slave cylinder that had failed. Pretty unimpressed as a new one was fitted just over two years ago - the bike has done 12k miles in the intervening time - almost all in good, dry weather.
Kevin at KRF found the bore badly scored...
...and a build-up of dirty watery gunge surrounding the piston just short of the seal...
The hydraulic fluid (replaced at the same time as the cylinder) was filthy.
New fluid, a pretty new stainless braided hose (mine is an early Adv, built before these became standard) and a new cylinder - all in all about £250 parts & labour (£150 in parts alone) - may thanks Kev
