New Bike - Corrosion Test

Minor update.

All bodywork still in great condition, no rust despite being out in pouring rain several times.

But the rear tyre tread has now corroded away down to the legal markers

Lasted 7189 miles which isn't too bad I thought.

So put a new replacement one on, as I don't have any issues with the Anakee 3 at the moment. Probably switch across to the Continental Road Attack 3 tyres when front and rear need doing.

If you want to go off-road and disable traction control and rear wheel ABS. For locking or spinning rear wheel you need to plug in your 'over-ride' dongle.

This dongle is found under your seat, once plugged in you can access the 'off road' Enduro and Enduro Pro Modes.

The plug symbol on the screen says the dongle is plugged in and ready.

I believe it also means that the bike 'remembers' your suspension settings for next ride after the ignition is switched off rather than reverting to default settings.

For those that might still be interested.

Well it's pretty much exactly 12 months since I started this thread. So it's worth an update with pictures.

Still no rust at all. Bike is showing signs of use, and mud in parts I can't reach, but it's all good.

It's now at 8,757 miles which is way lower than a normal year (I would normally be up around 12,000 miles at this point). That being said, I've split my riding between two other bikes and I was ill for 2 months, so no riding at all.

I've not taken this bike out in the salt, and never will.

But it is ridden in all weathers, rain, mud, sun, whatever.

The products I use to clean it with are:-

Washing - AutoGlym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner with Microfibre Wash Mitt and Hose Pipe (not jetwasher)

Waxing Paintwork Panels, Engine Components and Windscreen - AutoGlym Super Resin Polish

Black Plastics - AutoGlym Vinyl and Rubber Care

Wheel Rims - AutoGlym Bumper Care (keep it off your tyres)

ACF50 on wheel spoke bolts, dabbed on with Cotton Buds.

Cheers, and Yes I have.

Generally I wash it down after each ride, and brushing out the wheels with an old paintbrush to agitate the dirt away.

The pics above are after a days worth of time cleaning it, wheels off, spokes checked etc (which is why the spokes and inside the wheels are so clean).

But underlying all that, still no rust. I didn't have to remove any rust as there just wasn't any.

Only mud and dirt everywhere.

Thanks and yes I did.

Three spokes on rear wheel needed tightening.

One spoke on front wheel has lost a 2mm grub screw and is not under any tension. So that needs fixing.

I also checked all caliper bolts and all good.
