New Bike Today - wow!

Every new version looks better than the last, well that the plan. Just look at the old 1150 clocks and switch gear its looking dated and looks quite rough and unfinished now compared to the first 1200 and the new WC but it still does the job.

I disagree

The 1150 GS's still look good, whereas the 12 GS just looked a poorly made effort in comparison to the new GS & it's predecessors

I had a look over the new Bike for the first time today and agree with you :thumb2 Good luck to people getting the new WC and health to enjoy :beerjug:

+1

Very nicely designed, back to BMW's heritage of innovative design & execution

It has made the early 1200's look extremely dated

The dash on the 1150 look like something from a 1980s Skoda dated by today's standards but still do the job things move on quality is a different issue.

Picked my bike up at 9.00am this morning - and went for a 100mile spin :D

Forget all the negative waves put about by some journalists - this bike is utterly brilliant, the twin-cam was a great bike but this new one is a huge step forward, it feels so much more refined than the old one, it is a thoroughly modern bike, fantastic engine, no vibes, sooo much smoother in every respect, light clutch, great steering, lovely gearbox, great new tyres.

..... I went for the basic suspension, so can't comment on the fancy ESA, ASC etc ones - all I know is that the basic bike is the utter dogs danglies! :D:D:D

If you are thinking about up-grading, go for it - this bike is brilliant!

Congratulations on your new GS :D Nice to start hearing from real world riders as opposed to the testers too. The base model seems like an outstanding value and should hold it's resale value well.

The 2005 12 GS they had in the showroom looked really cheap & quite nasty alongside the new one

The new one really is light years ahead in comparison in terms of design, styling & build quality - it really is a lovely bit of kit

Its amazing how the new LC has dated the precious 12 GS overnight. We were saying exactly the same. My mate, who is into his Jap bikes loves the look of the new GS, and wants to take one for a test ride.:thumb

Fixed :D

I worries me though that a lover of 'Jap' bikes would like it..........

I have to say I really like the look of the LC. Gotta sort a test ride soon (but don't want to get one, more than happy with my 'classic').

Also love the exhaust. I don't think I've ever had a bike with a standard exhaust but would keep the one on the LC.

I spent the first 50 miles deliberately riding over cats eyes, small pot holes, over-banding, deliberately waggling the bars, doing the hip-wiggle over bumps etc etc - there was not the slightest inkling of instability - handling in all areas is much much better than my old twin cam, the bike actually feels lighter too. I went for the basic suspension, so can't comment on the fancy ESA, ASC etc ones - all I know is that the basic bike is the utter dogs danglies! :D:D:D

When the side stand is up , did you find your boot was touching it when changing gears?

I didn't notice it - the only small negative thing that I noticed is that it 'clunks' into first like a japanese sports bike, guess it might be due to the natural drag in a multiplate wet clutch?

Am i allowed to say that ithink that looks horrible:barf

I know i'm not in the market for one, but if i were that would make me look elsewhere.:eek

Yes you are Shep, I thought the same when I saw it at the NEC.

The nicest looking GS, in my opinion, is the 1200GSA.

Congratulations to all new owners, hope you have enjoyed the nice weather on your new bike. Had a visit up to Coopers of Sunderland this morning before a ride out. Couple of bikes on display including the new demo one as the original had been sold. Managed to get a better look than at the bike show and I like it, lot tidier and compact than the previous bike. If I had an older bike I would probably stump up the money but will stick with my GSA for now and see what next year brings. :)

Two days and all good - lots of dry salt on the roads so I'd better go and wash it now it's cooled down! :D
