Hello,
I am new to this forum and new to the world of BMW GS's.
I have recently purchased an old (1995) 1100 after a few years off bikes.
Ive only had it a few weeks, and have been reading a lot about the problems with the final drives, universal joints, bearings etc.
My bike which has covered 33,000 miles makes a clunking noise on pull away which disapears once moving. Concerned that it may be the universal joint or something in the final drive I decided to dismantle the doings and have a look.
Upon inspection it all looks new, far too new for a 17 year old bike. All the swivel bearings are perfect, the UJ is perfect in fact I cant find a fault. So I can only presume that it has had some new parts.
My question therefore is.....What is making this noise and will it kill me suddenly at 70 mph.
Many thanks in advance
Steve.
