New member,

Firstly... It's not a tourer see RT and GT the T standing for tourer. If all you want to do is ride on the road then there are better suited models solely for this purpose however they do not match the GS's manliness.

Unlike many of the pseudo adventure bikes it is very capable offroad. Unlike say the Honda cross tourer.

That said it makes a good tourer and it is very good at it. With that point order addressed.

On weight it doesn't make much difference of Gs over Gsa I commuted on my Gsa...I stopped because I was burning through knobbly tyres too quick and I couldnt be bothered to keep cleaning it for work after a Sunday getting it muddy.

Both bikes are no wider than the heads.
The Gsa sits an inch higher I think so be mindful if you need to tippy toe around cars.
The bigger tank puts you more in a bubble so is better for commuting all year.....but... Bmw are renowned for corrosion so if the council use the wrong salt and you use the wrong type of cleaner expect it to corrode before your eyes and the dealer to blame you...

ACF50 a must!

hi, thank you for your reply,, you've made some really good points and thank you for the ACF50 advice i really didnt know BMWs corrode very quickly,,

I thank you all for your kind words and sound advice,, 1250 GSA TE Exclusive 2019 is the model i am going with..

extras am getting with it is the;-

Anti theft alarm
Tracker
Akrapovic full Exhaust system

I've owned 2 GSs and ridden a GSA regularly. I'd stick with the GS because I don't want to ride a bike so long that the big tank comes into its own and the GS is cheaper.

In relation to the smaller capacity GSs, they are great bikes and no doubt better off road due to less weight and funny front wheels. If you intend to go touring with luggage and take a pillion, the larger capacity GSs will be better IMHO but like others, I have seen all types of bikes up mountains with loads of gear and two up and they seemed to be having a great time!

What a wonderful dilemma to have hey!? :thumb:thumb

congrats on your purchase, the big tank is useful if your commuting. My commute is 52 mile round trip on my last bike, a 1200gs I would be refuelling by Wednesday but on my spankers 1250 gsa I can go all week on one tank. Which is wot JJH said. not every ride is a trip across the Sahara is it. welcome aboard!

am talking to the dealer Motorrad Wollaston in Northampton,, as it stands the time line is 4 weeks from order..

Welcome, and this is my local dealer. I work in MK and live just outside Northampton, so no doubt see you around! I'm a recent GS convert, and am due delivery tomorrow, fingers crossed.......

Don't be worried by that corrosion remark! I doubt that they are any worse than other bikes

If they were that bad why are so many people on this forum on their 3rd, 4th or 5th GS?

I have owned 3 and had no problems with any, never felt the need to post that on here but I suppose if you do have a problem then you might post about it

Good to play the dealers off against each other. Have you tried Lind in WGC and Reiten Motorrad?

honestly i just want to make sure am paying the right price,, so far both dealers quoted the same the only difference is the delivery date,,
what surprised me :blast the fact that its 2019 model being purchased just before 2020 models and that didn't effect the price at all they both said it will go up and not down,, i know BMW wont change anything on the 2020 model except maybe the colors but still.
