Just rode it home today, first BMW for me! No buyers remorse so far, as a matter of fact quite pleased . The bike has had two previous keepers, 56k miles, the bike came with the record of full BMW main agent service history and new tyres. It is a dark blue color, not the color I would have chosen but not a deal breaker. It is completely stock right down to the cat and original muffler. It's equipped with the low adventure seat that at some point I will replace with the standard version and the two black plastic panniers.
As far as riding it, I have had some experience on other make adventure bikes ,namely a 2009 Moto Guzzi Stelvio that I liked very much. Biggest adjustment for me with the GS was the turn signal system, that will take some getting use to. Seat had been cleaned with a vinyl product that made it very slippery so was sliding around to much. Transmission is agricultural but works just fine, great heated grips, the anti lock brakes make that odd sound when first setting off but I had been made aware of that via this forum.
What I like about it most so far in the first 100 miles. It has a real road presents , not powerful but enough to make it capable for me. There is a sense of quality that grows as the bike is ridden, manifested by a very smooth ride, no surging always return to a slow idle after a little blast. The operator controls and bike interface all fell really good. Looking forward now to having a good look round it, learning about it and, of course ,riding it over the next little bit.
Will post up a picture or two tomorrow.
