Just rode it home today, first BMW for me! No buyers remorse so far, as a matter of fact quite pleased . The bike has had two previous keepers, 56k miles, the bike came with the record of full BMW main agent service history and new tyres. It is a dark blue color, not the color I would have chosen but not a deal breaker. It is completely stock right down to the cat and original muffler. It's equipped with the low adventure seat that at some point I will replace with the standard version and the two black plastic panniers.
As far as riding it, I have had some experience on other make adventure bikes ,namely a 2009 Moto Guzzi Stelvio that I liked very much. Biggest adjustment for me with the GS was the turn signal system, that will take some getting use to. Seat had been cleaned with a vinyl product that made it very slippery so was sliding around to much. Transmission is agricultural but works just fine, great heated grips, the anti lock brakes make that odd sound when first setting off but I had been made aware of that via this forum.
What I like about it most so far in the first 100 miles. It has a real road presents , not powerful but enough to make it capable for me. There is a sense of quality that grows as the bike is ridden, manifested by a very smooth ride, no surging always return to a slow idle after a little blast. The operator controls and bike interface all fell really good. Looking forward now to having a good look round it, learning about it and, of course ,riding it over the next little bit.
Will post up a picture or two tomorrow.

Hello and welcome I'll look out for you as I'm just down down the road (Beacon Hill on a silver 1200) ;)

Hi BILLD,

Ive had a couple of these and am currently looking out for another.

Great bikes, more soul than a 1200, less likely to corrode and handle like a dream when full of fuel...

Has the bike been sprayed? I think it must have, the 1150 GSA was made from 2001 up to 2005 and to my knowledge was never made in blue?

Check here, http://www.bmbikes.co.uk/information.htm great source of information...

Here's another useful link for part numbers, prices are in USD (easy to convert), and are accurate.

Enjoy the bike and get some photos up!

Hi Steve, as you have suggest as well as the second reply to this post ,the bike must have been sprayed as they didn't come in blue! The documentation I have with the bike goes back to the first owner on 26-07-2002 and indicates the second owner as of 24-10-2003. On this V5 the colour is marked down as blue with the E section for change of vehicle details (change of colour) blank. A friend and I had a look under the tank and under the beak, it does look original but it must have been painted. Not to worry, rode the bike about 175 miles today and I'm really enjoying it. The low seat is my only quibble, will replace it with a standard height at some point. Will try and attach some pictures for you to have a look at.http://www.ukgser.com/forums/images.../www.ukgser.com/forums/images/attach/jpg.giff

Hi Bill, I like the colour!

I'm currently looking at a couple of GSA's, and may well be in the market for a lower seat, maybe we could meet up and do a swap?

Enjoy!

Happy to do a swop for standard seat. I went and looked at ebay items #191419135648 a 2003 1150GSA and item #301337313315 a 2004 1150GSA. If you considered either of these happy to give you my take on them in private PM. Sorry, neither of them are blue!!

I looked at the black one myself, bit odd that one...The silver one has too much corrosion on it for me, I'll let you know when/if I find one with a std seat!
