Well picked up a 2015 super 10 from the very professional folk at Tamworth Yamaha after 70,000 miles on an 1150 gs.

I had a road test on the new Gs and a Triumph explorer both of which are fine machines

I really liked the Triumph but didn't really see the need for all that power and was constantly looking for another gear.

I also really liked the Gs but is really worth three grand more than a super ten ?

Vern from this parish said I should try the yam and I was not disappointed, also I thought that if I am having a new bike I wanted all the bells and whistles, plenty of electric buttons to play with ,and Japanese reliability seems a no brainier.

First impressions after about 500 miles are very positive, handles like a dream, very easy to steer and although it's about the same weight as the 1150 feels much lighter when riding, very easy to ride in town clutch light engine nice and smooth at 30 and fourty,on the open road feels very sure footed even though not been on dry roads yet.

Bob it onto story mode and it is very quick although the throttle is a bit too sharp,so it will probably spend most of its life in touring mode very handy though for a quick flick of the button for an over take.

Suspension on soft still quite firm and have not tried it with the boss on the back and luggage yet.

Little bit of buffering has been improved with a pair of winglets and will go for a bigger screen not sure which one yet any suggestions ?

All in all very happy with the bike although I do miss the grunt of the 1150 but after 70,000 miles you do get attached to the old girl and it was a fine machine, still in the family though as my son is taking it over.

Is this a new Yamaha mode that "helps you get to sleep" ?

I have a Givi Airflow on my 2011 version and it works very well, a bit on the ugly side, but rather an ugly screen that works over a pretty one that doesn't.

Reckon you will be happy with the bike, most folk find they grow on them and seem better as time goes on, I keep thinking I want something newer / faster / lighter but every time I go out on it by the time I get home I cannot see the point of wasting money on a new bike and should just save the cash and spend it on tyres / fuel / hotels.

I've got a Wunderlich screen spoiler on my standard screen ( 14 ES) and it's made a real difference to the buffeting.... they're around £70 and multi adjustable so you can get it just right.... as said earlier....looks a bit odd to me , but it works :thumb

Not got any yet have a set of verns on the gs which are bullet proof as was proved when my mate hit me up the arse when I pulled over to let a car pass on a single road in Applecross, verns and gs servived,VFR was a right off !
Mr Vernon kindly got them back into pretty decent shape and I might get him to make some brackets for the super 10 but do I want old slightly worn panniers on a shiny new bike.
The plus side is that they are narrow ,I have looked at the givi and motec ones but they don't half stick out and I do like to filter.
The yam cases are nice and tight in but would the misses get hair drier straighteners and several pairs of shoes in em?
Decisions decisions !

I'm going for a pair of 8" Ard Cases...anodised black..... They will be narrower than the handlebars .......

Roger is a pleasure to deal with :thumb2

The OEM cases don't have that good a feedback over on the Super Tenere forum... I've got the top case and the lock is crap

You seem to have done the maths, do you think the 10" cases would be too wide? I've seen HB Gobi's on an S10 and they don't look all that wide...despite being 10".

Thanks for that I like the look of those and they don't seem over expensive , will you post some pics when you have them fitted ?

I aslo rate the Givi AirFlow. I can ride in silent air with my visor up regardles of speed f I want to.

Infact I rate the screen so highly I've put it on my 2015 S10 when I sold my 13 model. Unfortunately you lose the screen adjustment/sat nav bar but it will fit with a couple of small spacers.

I've measured the width of the Hepco & Becker racks, then added 16"....that comes in at probably an inch under the handlebar width ( have to check again to be sure) I think the 10" will be wider than the bars in total..the H&B racks are vertually symmetrical so it will look nice and balanced from the back :thumb2

Yes the very one !

I spotted it on a ride a couple of weeks ago and thought it was for sale as I had a friend who was after one, nice bike with a lovely patina of a bike that had done some decent travelling

Cheers Mike

Sounds like a cunning plan thanks for the input would really appreciate a pic from the back when you get em on .:bounce1
