New triple blacks have arrived

Nutty,
Can you ask him how many of the 125k bikes sold had a warranty claim, not a recall.
And how many had more than 3 warranty claims

It would really deny or confirm any misconceptions around reliability

And he works in the Warranty Dept in Berlin does he?

If you work for BMW especially in the manufacturing sector you can see / obtain information on warranty and performance charts / details.

Terry.
PS I work for BMW

Lets have a quick poll. I know two people that are not forum members who have had engines repaced.

On any other forum, a poll would be a good idea, but you just know that on here there would be non owners voting, just for a laugh.

Although it seems like there have been a lot on here, I'd be surprised if more than around 20 on this forum have have their engines replaced due to corrosion.

How many members are here Nutty? All members not just paying subscribers I mean...

He doesn't have to. I've given you an idea. Why the obsession?

No obsession Nutty just seeking clarification from someone who actually works at BMW rather than something from a bloke who knows a bloke who works there :augie

125000 units sold yet no more that 99 engines replaced when I have a mate who has had two bikes both of which ended up with replacement motors and I'm having one replaced in two weeks time

Weird that eh?

If BMW have replaced less than 100 units that's good going but I find that very low figure difficult to believe

hear hear!

do BMW understand the 6 sigma principles?

in case they do not..

Focus on the customer.

Identify and understand how the work gets done (the value stream).

Manage, improve and smooth the process flow.

Remove Non-Value-Added steps and waste.

Manage by fact and reduce variation.

Involve and equip the people in the process.

Undertake improvement activity in a systematic way.

I personally know 5 folks who have had their engine changed, one of them having had it done twice.
Difficult to accept there have been less than 100 world wide.

I suspect that an awful lot of bikes with corrosion do not come to light as they've been sold on the PCP scheme, and if you're only renting the bike does it really matter, you'll be getting another in a couple of years ??

So that's five, plus the twenty odd others that have posted about it here then.

Are BMW still using the über hard and brittle paint from the Hexheads? Why can't they use a paint supplier who can do the job properly?

Sent via iPhone so expect strange words

I know you do

So you can confirm just how many LC engines BMW have replaced so far?

Quite possibly if I have the time and notion to look, but as a ball park figure I would suspect Nutty is pretty close. And one reason I would not divulge any such info is the fact I can't legally.

I was merely pointing out that Associates within the BMW group would be able to see the information relating to there plant and any other plant in the group.

I wonder whose that is. Anyone from here?

Dunno but I had a 6000m service for a princely sum of £146, and a loaner too get in!

That is over 2p/mile service costs alone.....:rob

I think I'll stick with my uber reliable, cheap to run and maintain 1150 version.
