I'd had it just over a year, had a 2 year warranty with it and one day it wouldn't start. I called Harley for advice and they said they'd call me back. 2 hours later they ring back and ask if I've had it serviced lately. I explain that it is due its 5000 mile service in about 500 miles time. They say , sorry you should have had it serviced after 12 months so your warranty is invalid. I explained that the battery and or start motor wouldn't have been part of the service, that they'd sold me a 10k bike just 12 months before and now it won't start and they won't help me.
Compare that to BMW, I have a tiny bit of corrosion on the engine which is out of the corrosion warranty and they are giving me a new engine.

I have a 14 plate GSA and a Harley. Neither on PCP.

After reading all this there is no hope left so am going to set fire to them both before they spontaneously combust.

I have with a few cars the figures were designed this way to keep the punter with the brand the dealer offers more than the settlement to ensure another sale

Every car I had on PCP were always in negative equity at the end, however, I was able to walk away without penalty (regulated agreement). I now lease my cars.

It may or may not be the same case with bikes, but I dont do finance on bikes.

So firstly you heard that less than 100 engines have ever been replaced under warranty and now you've never heard of equity left over in a vehicle at the end of its term.

MOT fail? Although to be fair by the time an MOT will be needed, most of us will be well into the next PCP... I mean bike.... Lol

I'm on my 4th Merc on a PCP and there has never been any equity in fact the future value is way over inflated,as Nutty said to keep the payments down.Cant comment on bikes as I haven't got 1 on a PCP but will consider it next time I change

I was shocked at the state of his Harley the frame and all fixings were red rust on a 18 month old street Electra cruse Glide Chop Glide thingy its one of these

So it seems BMW are not the only one suffering with their paint quality

Renting? .... PCP is exactly that unless you make the last lump sum payment

Someone at BMW will have the figures as to how many PCP punters end up actually buying their bikes but I would hazard a guess it is less than half with the majority either walking away from the brand completely or entering in to another PCP arrangement

Nice your wrong.

It is not renting as VAT is not charged on the monthly payment. With a PCP the payment you make every month is a repayment and you can if you want purchase or re finance the final payment. The Vat is paid up front on the price of the bike.

In a Leasing agreement (renting) VAT is calculated on the monthly rental for the life of the agreement and the finance company who own the vehicle, claims back the full VAT chargeable on the sale price. You also cannot own the vehicle at the end.
