Hello everyone. Just joined tonight.
Not bought a 1200GS yet but looking to purchase one this next week. Any tips? I'm looking at getting heated grips, computer and full luggage. Should I consider anything else? I'm not sure I need any other options but am I missing something? I'll leave it at that for now.

welcome to the site, hopefully that purchase goes through :D you won't regret it :thumb

heated grips and luggage sound good but if you don't get everything you wanted on the bike first time round, there's a pretty healthy aftermarket to drain your wallet :augie

happy biking

:D

hope you find what your looking for try to get one with as many extras on as possible you can always sell them if yor not happy
by selling anything on here you will make a new friend :rob

luggage a must

cheers

Just out of interest, my 1200 is up for grabs. £6k and its yours - luggage, heated grips, abs etc.

Something to consider before you lay down your hard earned wonga.

Welcome Hawk,
I joined in June after buying my first GS.
Just returned from a 6 country tour round Europe. Great 2 weeks!
I'm not far from you in Halifax

Erm, thanks.

Thanks guys.
No need for the Amstrad as I've already got a ZX48 Spectrum waiting to be fitted. I've taken it off my Sinclair C5.
After a 2007 model GS, low mileage. Probably gonna buy new tomorrow. No
2nd hand ones about. If they do appear, they don't last long on Biketrader or dealers are asking too much. I have the ok from the finance director (er indoors), so long as I choose black or red!!

Hi Hawk

Just a thought about luggage.

i got my GS 12 earlier this year and specc'd it pretty much like your proposal. However with hindsight I probably wouldn't have gone for the BMW panniers, but gone for aftermarket Metal Mules or similar from TT. Trouble with the BMW panniers is that they are just that, and not really suited for use as low table/seat/chopping board etc etc when you are away.

hope you enjoy bike and maybe see you on the roads of west Yorks some day!

hi and welcome

I saved over £3000 buying 18 month old with all the trimmings on with 7500 miles

I would seriously think before buying new, there are lots of decent buys out there and theres enough in the For Sale Section here at the right price

You will enjoy it no matter what but £3000 gets you two good trips away to Europe and a decent trip to Morroco or somwhere else exotic ;) :D

Not bought new. Got a good price for one but was told by the sales chappy that a newer updated one is in the pipeline for next year. 9bhp more and a few cosmetics - it put me off buying new so I'm looking for an 06/07 in grey or black. Still looking............
