The 1150 I've recently bought had a noisy fuel pump, noted to self that I'd change the fuel filter but that it may need replacing.

Then from somewhere in the recess of my memory I seemed to recall having a K100RS with a similar issue that was caused by water in the fuel.

One bottle of Wynns Dry Fuel later and all is quiet and humming from the fuel pump.

I assume the fuel cap on the GS's are as crap as the one fitted to the Funduro at keeping out precipitation.

The cap isn't meant to keep water out. Water in the tank is usually caused by the drain hole under the cap being blocked, so the water can't drain away and it ends up in the tank instead.
