Hi Guys,

Hopefully someone can help me befofe i throw my Navigator III out of the window:spitfire

I have got Mapsource v9 installed on my PC and on the Navigator, recieved the update disc, paid for the unlock code and installed the up to date mapping on my PC. However, i can not seem to send it to the GPS unit!!!!!

The unit is recognised in Mapsource no problem but when i run the disc set up again, it takes me through installing up to date SOFTWARE for the unit but then leaves the set up instead of sending the update to the GPS Unit :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire

I have called Garmin a couple of times, only to speak to someone who thinks i should have a memory card to send it to!!! I have not managed to speak to a single person in Garmin who is familiar with the Navigator/2820 mapping update process.

Please can anyone help i'm off to France in a couple of weeks and need to get this sorted.

P.S. In the process of playing with set up, i have lost any Detail Maps on my unit :anger

I am so pi**ed off with Garmin. I have now got a GPS unit with no detail maps on it and unable to load anything onto it not even the original v8 which came pre-installed.

I am not sure wether there should be a BMW specific disc, the v9 update which i had was not a BMW specific disc!?

I'll have to keep calling Garmin until someone knows what their talking about answers the phone not just a sales rep!

Any ideas who you spoke to John? Or which number you called?

Thanks.

Phil is the one to ask for on their free phone number then option 1 then 2. They can get you a useable GPS, so when you call ask for the RMA number to use. They may get it back in time, so call early on Monday.

BTW it may not come back in a configuration that you're totally happy with, but it'll still be uesable.

Thanks a lot John! I'll keep this post updated with what happens. Any luck with yours now?

Well they've got CN 2008 on it, but it's got some of V9 still on it. And I asked and paid for some work, which I don't think they did :(

They were playing with mine so hopefully yours should only take a couple of days. BTW if you speak to one of the "non-technical" staff and they say the case is "closed", all it means is that its arrived there

Also, on mine they reset everything, including settings and preferences.

Sounds like it's going to be a stressful build up to my trip!!! Thanks for your help John.

That's why I'd advise getting on the phone on Monday morning and getting it in the post the same day. And ask for Phil, at least he knows there's a difference between the 2820 and the BM Nav 3, and make sure you're near a PC that can accept the sh1t "helpfull" e-mails which in my case were:

Dear John Armstrong,

Thank you for contacting Garmin(Europe)Ltd.

Please could you try a master reset of your unit? Just to warn you this will erase user data such as saved favourites. Please follow the instructions below.

MENU + MAP + POWER

After this please leave the unit outside in a stationary position for about 45 minutes, somewhere where it can get a clear view of the sky.

Please can you also update mapsouce at the following link http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=209

Please can you check the maps are unlocked then send across to the device.
