last service paid £11.92 for oil filter![]()
So it looks like main dealers aren't cheaper for filters then....
I've thrown the boxes away now, but I'm fairly sure that's what Motorworks supplies both for oil and air filters.1150GS Filters are manufactured by a company called Knecht (Mahle) in Germany for BMW. BMW just rebadge them.
The Knecht part numbers are as follows
Air filter : LX578
Oil Filter: OC91 (OC91D including the O ring)
Fuel Filter: KL145
I just got the local car accessory shop who normally carry Knecht car filters to order me in a few of each from their Kneck distributor. They got them within 2 days and were 40% cheaper than the BMW badged ones.
Worth considering.

I don't suppose you have the corresponding numbers for the 1200?
I asked my local motor factors this morning if he had Mahle filters. The response was "No, but I have Knecht. They're German too. Wouldn't be surprised if they come out of the same hole in the ground".
so now I can check out his prices and see if that works.
champion filter <€5 yes Euro.
BMW dealer €20, and that's probably before VAT at 21%.
Yes, I know Motorworks is WAY cheaper, but the postage is about £14 to Ireland so you need to be buying quite a bit to make it worthwhile. Better to source locally from a Factors if possible.
Thanks for the info.
........Anyway, I've always wanted to see what's inside an oil filter....
I'll get my coat...

Mahle and Knecht are the same company. Look at this link for 1200 info
