hello all
same old question again and i am sorry but differant circumstances, been out this morning and did about 120 miles i checked the bike over before leaving all ok, about 15 miles from home when pulling up at a roundabout the oil pressure light came on briefly ,when the engine was revved it went out and it was not on under normal riding conditions but every time i slowed to a halt it came on, so when i arrived home it was just flickering on and off at tickover so i turned it off ,left it and checked the oil all ok.. anyone help me..
stainy..

no john its been dry all day and since i posted the message i`ve had a cup a tea and been ans started it and its ok , as in the lights not on, it must be one of them gs things

If the oil's cold it's thicker so you need to go for another run to get the oil nice and warm to see if it really is ok.

But that run might trash the engine :(

Changed anything like filters recently?

cheers john , i`ll take it out for a run and check it, but i have`nt been hanging around on it today anyway, but one i did notice is that itwas`nt over heating or anything, just normal, out of interest where is the oil pressure switch so i could check the connection, or is it inaccesable, to the normal human???

oilpresssure light

It's down the front of the left side front of the engine, turn on the ing onlty and pull the lead off the switch, if it comes on it's a wiring faul, possibly chaffed in the bit of channel it goes thropugh under the pot, thats what mine was. Do of course check you oil level on thwe centre stand.

mine did this for a bit, buy a new switch and all will be fine.

My oil light has never come on and I wondered if the bulb had gone. Is it meant to come on when the igmition is turned on, like many other bikes, then obviously go out once she's all fired up, I suppose if I disconnect the wire then I could see if the bulb was working or not.

Mines a well used 98 1100.:tarka:ukgser

with the ing on take off the wire on the oil switch and hold to the body of the switch/engine ie a good earth and see if the light comes on if it does its the switch if it doent then look at the bulb saves taking the dash apart if you dont have to.the switch is under the left hand cyclinder if i remember right..
