Depends.
If you have BM insurance it'll be covered, a Garmin 660 won't.
If you buy from a BM dealer, it'll have a 2 year guarantee compared to a 1 year one, but Garmin seems to be generous with out of warranty repairs.
But, Garmin 660 software / maps / updates may not work.

Wouldn't it be better to have the BM Assist number as what's the use of the address if you can't get there

TBH, I'm surprised its so cheap (by BMW standards…) I guess they realise it won't sell at all unless its something like realistic

It offers New advanced mounting cradle with four large buttons on the left to ease practical usage.
But says nothing about the mounting of it, as usual.
.. AFAIK, it does not include mounting hardware, so another cost to be factored.

Yup, so its going to be £600 (ish) fitted.
That's £200 more than the 660 (B4U Direct are doing the 660 for £405).

i think it's not too bad (if you can afford it) for the extra cover and buttons etc.... the buttons and the cradle on the Nav 2 made it a far better unit than the 2610 versions.. i can see this being the same.
I had a BM Nav 2 and a 2610 and you're right they did make it easier as they were designed for car drivers not bikes.
With the Nav 3 = 2820 the icons etc were much bigger and easier to hit with gloves on. I'll guess the Nav 4 will not increase the ease of use over the 660 as again it was designed for bike use and so has big icons already. Now if they have increased the customisation level which on the 550 is pretty low, then that might make it worth the extra. Personally after the faff I had trying to update the maps on my Nav 3, the Nav 4 would have to be a couple of hundred quid cheaper than the 660 to make me choose it. Another -ve was the Nav 3 didn't allow playing music, the 2820 did.
Unless someone wants me to have a play with a Nav 4 for a while
