In a Remote area apparently.
Can anyone tell me if the blanking plate used on the pillion seat of a Rallye GS fits the same space but using a "Normal" rider seat instead of a Rallye one. 1250GS. Ta, Del

I was wondering if the cover plate (luggage rack as it seems to be called in the REAL OEM ) can be fitted without the Rallye seat and using the standard front seat. I dont carry pillion passengers and was thinking of fitting the rallye cover instead of the pillion seat. Dont know if that can be done. You'd be the lad to tell me if you have both.:D

I suspect you're looking at the Luggage Plate rather than the Rallye rear plate. This is mine...

Nope will not work.... the Rallye seat is longer then the standard seat - you would have a gap of around 5” also the Rallye seat “holds” the cover down when fitted.

It’s either one or the other.

This is the answer you seek....

Tis exactly what i needed to know. So i know i need to search for a Luggage plate. Thanks peeps, i was confussed but sorted now.:thumb:D Found it now, but its no use as i would have to remove grab rails. Dont want topbox where it would mount using luggage plate, just panniers.:blast :D

Is that luggage plate a BMW part ?

Yes it is. The black piece on top is a hinged cover and opens to reveal a small boot. It also allows you to fit the Vario top box to it directly, like this...

Cheers for that. I like it. The 1150 used to come with a luggage plate as standard.
I think Ill order one of these.:thumb

I've had both the BMW seatplate and the SW Motech equivalent. The SW one is far more substantial with @ 4mm metal. The BMW one I thought was rather flimsy and easily opened with a suitable implement. Bit more expensive, but for me protected what ever you store under your seat far better.
All the best

Hi, thanks for that. Does the SW one fit just using standard front seat ? Or does it require the Rallye seat ?

Del,
The plate fits with the bmw and the wunderlich seat as well. It fits onto the passenger seat area the same way you would fit the seat.
I can pm photos if you want them.

Yeah i 've looked it up Steve. I had hoped there would be some sort of seal at the back end and down the sides a little to stop water ingress into the space below. I have my K2 DVR unit in there and might have to move it because im thinking it would probably suffer water damage in a real downpour. Mark Hooton of this parish does a plate to and its cheaper, although its aluminium and only 2mm thick, but it doesnt have a seal either. Not sure how to proceed atm. Might move DVR unit into ecu compartment, other have it there with no ill effects on the video quality.
