Please respond if you've NOT had a 1200GS/GSA fuel pump controller failure

I haven't had any real problems:

I haven't had any real problems:

Bike - 2004 R1200GS, bought from Tobers with a little over 20k miles on it. Now got 50k miles on it. Mixture of riding (Long journeys and short hops) in all weather (from blazing hot to thick snow). Youngish rider for a BMW (early 40's) and bike is left off the road for a few months in the winter if my R1100RT is roadworthy, or sometimes stands in the summer if I tax both the KTM and the Ducati together for a couple of months.

To date the only issue I've had was a bit of corrosion on the front engine case. Bike is always self serviced so never goes near a dealer if i can help it.

Cheers,

Keith.

Well...

Up to this point we've had 159 positive replies. Out of that, I suppose we should deduct at least 1 where someone had their pump controller fail on them after posting. :blast

Although it was by no means scientific, it was interesting to note how most of the bikes appear to have covered distances in the mid teens. There were quite a few that had covered 20k+ and a few 40k+.

There were quite a few that had owned more than 1x 1200GS and a couple of people who have had 3x 1200s.

As for the weather & storage conditions... I think we may have disproved that theory... :augie

I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions...

Random luck / unlucky :nenau

Don`t think it`s a case of luck, more of the bike doing what it`s designed to do:thumb I think it`s the failures which are unlucky.

Mines a 56 plate 1200ADV, has just gone past 35,000 miles and lives outside in all weathers and gets ridden very regularly. I never check the fuel pump housing to see if it`s full of water although I do give it a dose of WD when I remember.

Oh, and it hasn`t got any corrosion that I wouldn`t expect:thumb

2005 1200GS

Dave T.
2006 R1200GS.
13500 Miles.
Used pretty much daily.
Ridden in all weathers.
Lives outside(not even under a cover, just chained to the house!!!)
Never unused for more than a week.

(Only probs so far: Gearbox input/output shaft seals went at 23 months, engine front cover corroded. Both sorted quickly and easily under warranty, therefore Dave T is still a happy GSer :thumb2)

Damn and blast... it went 237 miles later.... sods law eh!!!
Fixed by BMW assist and on my way within the hour... not bad for a rush hour call out...
Still a happy GSer though....:thumb
