The Doctor
R1200GS 2005 (owned by me since Jan 2007)
15,000m
Typical touring weather
Unless I'm touring it's only out in the dry (Got a old CBR for the wet)

No problems but got a spare.
Comparing the 2 controllers, it's currently running on the old type.

I'm still in contact with the previous owner, guffter6969, & he didn't have a problem either.

120+ positives, don't mean fek all but at least it adds a balance to the doom and gloom merchants.

I feel I ought to post here and be counted for balance.

I had a failure on my previous 1200GS, which was fixed at the roadside by BMUU Assist person, that is counted on Tim's never ending thread.

That fix then worked for every day until I got my new GSA in March '08. This has now done 9,800 miles with no failures.

I think it's you who is being positively negative.

Why try to be a smart-arse when someone is trying, I imagine, to gather information which may in the long-run benifit us all?:nenau

Couldn't agree more. The point is that there shouldn't be so many failures of a safety-critical component - particularly on a so-called "premium marque" - and yes Dahoum - they will have the info but unless they are challenged with this sort of compilation they deny the scale of the problem.

June 2005 bike.
30,500 miles on the clock.
Used mostly between March and October. Mix of daily commuting and a few long trips.

Kai

ps Plenty of other things gone wrong though ...!
Looks like I may have jinxed myself.

Commuting to work this morning on Edinburgh City Bypass when the engine just dies on me. I managed to weave through the cars on the inside lane and stop at the side (no hard shoulder ) and tried to re-start. The engine did fire up a couple of times and then just died again.

By all accounts this sounds like the dreaded fuel pump controller fault .... what flippin' next with this bike ... :(:nenau
