Mr. Wilmer:
To load the Custom POIs (speed camera database) into the GPSR, you need to download a small program called
POI Loader to your computer, and then run that program (on your computer) to upload the speed camera database to the GPSR.
Although it is not a difficult process, it's not quite as simple and straightforward as uploading map segments or routes to the GPSR, because the speed camera databases are supplied by third parties (meaning, out of Garmin's control), and the database vendors are not always consistent in what they provide in the package of data.
My suggestion is that you download the
POI Loader application to your computer, then read the help file that is part of the program - just go to the HELP menu to do this. The help file should give you a bit of an overview of what is involved in the process.
Be cautious about units of measure. If your database came from a vendor outside of Great Britain, it is possible that they may have used metric units. So, proceed with some caution on the road until you are sure that the GPSR is alerting you properly about the presence of cameras, etc. ahead of you.
Note that you don't have to worry about screwing things up, because each time you send a new upload of Custom POIs to the GPSR, everything that was there before gets erased. It's not an 'additive' process. So, if you screw up one upload, no problem, just do another upload later.
