I am planning to wire an extra two auxiliary sockets on my 2014 GS and use them to power heated vest for rider and pillion. I've always thought heated clothing was for wimps but after acquired a heated vest from a friend and tried it over the winter I am now a convert!
I am going to wire the sockets straight to the battery with suitable fuses. Access to the negative or ground terminal is easy but the positive battery terminal is not easy to reach so I was going to use the positive terminal on the right hand side of the bike next to the battery. This is where the manual says to attach jump leads. I'm sure this will be ok to use but am wondering why this positive terminal is there as it seems not to be connected to anything but the battery, in fact it is just screwed into a plastic bracket, is it there just for jump leads? Or have I missed a connection somewhere?
