My very own recording studio! (South Wales).
Rode over something heavy and it flipped up and punctured the downpipe on the left hand side, just outside the bash plate. it's a 2011 GSA. Is it just a simple job getting someone to weld it without removing it or is there more to it that this? The picture is taken from below on the nearside. Thanks all.

That's really unlucky. :(

The pipes will have to be removed form the bike for repair and the welds will go rusty. I have a set of OEM headers you can have for £50 plus postage.

Those look chrome plated so not such an easy fix. You will always have an obvious repair area. If cosmetics doesn't bother you then it's an easy fix. Disconnect the battery and weld it with stainless filler on the bike.

I actually think its quite lucky, sorry Bendy not trying to be argumentative, it could of been one of your cylinder heads or even your leg! As Steve K mentioned, plenty seem to be available on ebay :) or just buy Bendy's.

Time for some Akrapovic headers, and you've got a good excuse now.:green gri

Your lucky it hit the down pipe rather than an engine case. I wouldnt waste my time doing a weld repair, if its that thin it wont last and youl be hard pushed to get a decent
job.
New pipes would be the way to go I think.

I would as others have said I would think myself lucky that didn't stick in my leg, and to reward that fact I would treat myself to a full new Akro system

Thanks for the replies, I'll get Bendy's pipes i think. Check out the temporary repair. I know i should have used Tennents Extra or Kestral Super strength but this piss weak crap was all that was left from a barbecue.

Do the single cam headers fit on a twin cam.
Only if you use the whole system. My understanding is that both the silencer and the downpipes are different to accommodate the flappy valve (which won't fit with SC exhaust parts)

Sent using smoke and mirrors

That's why I wondered as I'm sure bendy toys pipes must be from a single cam and the op says his is a 2011 which must be a twin cam.

Wouldn't bother getting it fixed. Just leave it like that. Proper bush repair - looks nice & gnarly !

Bendy's pipes are from a single cam so only useful for a TC if owner wants the full system to dump the flappy valve.

Looking at the beer can repair can you get to the hole of you unscrew the O2 sensor? You could perhaps drift the flap back into the hole and bodge over with gun gum exhaust paste
