Question about rear suspension?

Hi all,

I had the bike MOT'd today.. 2001 1150GS and I had an advisory on play on the top rear susspension mount

It passed the MOT but the tester couldn't get access to see the top of the unit. He showed me by having the bike on the centre stand and grabbing hold of the final drive and lifting it upwards. It was then that you heard a knocking and at the same time you could see there was no play at the bottom linkage.

I must admit I have not read much about this at all on the techie section. Is this adjustable? Does it need a new unit?

Take off the front seat & the rear shock upper mount is between the seat mounts. I expect that it just needs tightening up as it's not like there are any linkages to wear......

Well that was easy.... Just nipped up the bolt on top of rear strut and bingo

No knocking Thats a nice cheap repair
