i'd be using 20w50 SG and above if i lived below manchester and 15w40 if i lived above - purely for the temp range.
most damage is done at startup - so if the bikes outside all night with frost on it you want a thinner oil.
if its in a centrally heated warm garage - 20w50 is great

0ils can be mixed too - 0w30 can be mixed with 15w40 - but its your engine at the end of the day.
0w30 synth would be great for racing for instance
