R1100GS switch gear

Grrr..just back in from a ride on the GS and the hi/lo switch has stuck ..I cant get either hi or lo beam tho when I push it right down I can flash hi beam just as well the PO had wired in spots so that they came on when you switch the lights on ..otherwise Idve been stuck at the side of the road with no headlight .the side light works tho ..can the switch be taken apart ? if not has anybody got a spare one ? cheers Scott

Clues are there... Before you replace the switch, make sure the PO didn't route all the aux lamp current through it.

No he wired it from battery thru relay + inline fuse to right hand switch so its ok ..managed to get one from Motorworks ..had been looking @ pics on ebay and google images of bmw switches and it would appear that ones from the K series and other R models like the 850 1100s etc all use the same switch gear except certain rt ones as they have an extra wire for the leccy screen ..
