Hi,
Learned today that even if the clutch lever switch goes click-click when you pull and release the lever, it still may not make contact to allow bike starting in gear.
My switch would click with lever about 1" from full in against the bars.
Took out the switch and cleaned it but in reality, it just needed adjusting.
Loosen the likkle allen-screw (2mm key) on underside of the assembly and you are able to move the switch on a pivot. I moved it to make the click audible about midway in to the bars and all is well.
FWIW.

Thanks, i'm just off out to adjust mine 'cos its never worked!!:thumb

going to have a look at mine cos it's always letting me down, didn't realise it could be adjusted, i even asked the dealer to look at it on 3 occasions and they said there's nothing wrong with it,

The switch pivots on a pin inside the lever housing. It is clamped by the allen-screw. Very hard to understand without taking it out, but probably no need to take it out unless it have been filled with mud. I would adjust it to click when the lever reaches half way, so the clutch is definitely free before the interlock allows the starter to work. Test it after!
