I’m not really interested in more top end HP but if they want ladle on even more low and mid range grunt then yes please!
A new TFT? They haven’t even sorted this one yet! Probably integrate full navigation into it and charge a ridiculous on going service charge to keep it up to date.

I think with the VVT the power will be low down rather than high , more torque is your friend.

I thought that the point of VVT is that the valve timing can be closer to optimal for both low end and high end revs, and all points in between, instead of the normal conservative fixed compromise. Given that, there must be scope for improvements pretty much throughout the rev range.

To be honest , until it arrives we wont know , but maybe cam profiles may alter the way the power is passed thro , no expert tho just keen to get a better engine , I keep wearing mine out.

Lets hope the engine does not sound like a bag of spanners in a washing machine at tickover.

We obviously know that the GS is the best real road bike period. And yes TORQUE is more important than superficial high hp numbers on top of the power band. But sorry 134hp won't be enough.140 NM torque will put the GS on par with the supercharged Kawasaki 1000 and 1301 KTMs but 140-150 hp on the GS needs to make things more exiting. And that should easily archievable for a manufacturer like BMW who still after 9 nine makes the strongest 1000 cc inline 4...:thumby:
As for an S-Boxer more exiting than a GS that looks as good and is as practical covering the whole spectrum from occasional trackday, commuting to 2-3 week holiday trip like the R90S or R1100S did in their days , I'm all for it...:beerjug:
Because not everyone likes the GS and it might attract some younger folks into the fold...hope it will be true.
Otherwise the R 1299 XR will do....:D
Can't wait for the shows in Germany and Italy this fall...prepare to be disappointed...;)

But otherwise what is out there ? Nothing !
The Multilala that really doesn't handle with chain and expensive to maintain and fragile valvetrain ?
The KTM's that are so long geared that the beast feals more like a Cheshire cat and a chassis that feels like riding a hobby horse ?
And Triumph,Harley,M-G,Aprilia and the Japanese Four have really Nothing worth thinking about ! Unless you see the new H-D GS called Pan American new for 2020 that would have been a competitor in 1987...:D

So BMW better get's it right come fall :aidan

Don't listen to them , the new bike will be as good as the ones are now but with head changes.
To add look on other makes forums , all makes have issues but concidering the amount of GS sold its not really a problem at all , just some have bad luck ( me included) but im not worried as always had great dealer support.

Can I have some of what you’re smoking?:D

2 pieces of advice I guess

1) Don't get old

2) Don't let your modern GS get old.

As long as you can stay with the 'change your bike like you change your pants' thing then all will be fine, no doubt.

I hope they do bring out a new bike in September - by the time I am due to upgrade they should have fixed all the inevitable new bike serious problems and will release the new improved new one :)

You could be dead by next year tho ……………

At last , someone with some sense and a grasp of the reality of the GS , love the bit about the ktm , I bought one for about 6 weeks and , sold it as it was as you say . Its a one trick pony ………..and it cooks your arse , bollox and legs.
Would like to add that the offered power increases of bmw for the gs will be enough as the bike is so planted and you can use the power gains without the waste of high numbers.

You bought one for about 6 weeks. Absolute bollocks did you.

@ stick;after 30 years of riding I know a little bit about bikes and riding and don't give a damn anymore what the magazines say. Those guys don't have a clue or are paid whores trying to keep the advertisement monies coming.Fake new.Lies & propaganda.Always praising the latest as the greatest.Fact is bikes in MotoGP or Worldsuperbike have nothing more in common with the stuff we can buy than the name on the tank. And if some riding god is faster on bike X than another on bike Y it does not mean you will be any faster on it.Fasct is after 9 long years the S1000RR is still the best package and easiest bike to ride fast on the track.Still the best package and reason why real roadracers ride and win on it at the TT and not ride Ducati,Aprilia,R1 or Fireblade.
Also fact is the GS is the best road bike period,The whole package,Boxer that protects your legs and does not build up gyro and makes it harder to steer unlike any other crank configuration except for M-G,Telelever that soaks up all bumps while not diving on the brakes, strong TORQUE from idle to 8000rpm,great luggage system and clean driveshaft. The whole package. And people who complain about "lack of feel/feedback" from TL shouldn't be on a motorcycle in first place because they don't know what they are talking about.O.K. 20 Kilos less and 20-30 hp more that would be great to infuse some excitement like the S1000XR gives. But still I rather have a GS than a chain or loss of leg because no cylinder was sticking out to the side...The GS is the fastest thing on the road.Especially the bumpier the pavement gets.Makes real sportbikes pointless for anything but posing or track riding...
THe idea of a modern S-Boxer in the tradition of R90S and R1100S I would love though...:thumby:
And of course a road only 17 inch version of the GS...:beerjug:
Hopefully soon !

AS for the naysayers and people looking only at the problems.Nothing made by humans is perfect. And if the beancounters cause too many problem$$$ with cheap globally sourced parts than sooner than later we get Quality made in Germany again...:thumb2
I guess the delay of the G310 made in india and now the same with the F850GS engine made in china will change things for the better !
When it will costs them more than they can save things will change very quickly...

Concur. Have ridden numerous Katooms...unimpressed.

Unstoppable GS! (and XR...)

Join the queue, its going to be a long one.
The next gen GS,GSA,RT are going to be out of reach for the competition.
