R1300 GSA top box, what news?

just got an email from the Dealers......My top box has arived so will pick it up tomorrow....

Picked my topbox up this morning. It was still boxed up. The guys had a bit of a challenge to get the key set up with the cylinders but 30 mins later and I took it home and mounted it on my bike.
First impressions..

1. It's huge! Much bigger that the old Alu top boxes on the 1200 / 1250´s.
2. Build quality is solid. It has a ratchet type closing mechanism which is interesting but not sure what for. What I mean is you can just tap the lid shut and it closes , cant be opened but to fully close you have to push the lid further down to close.
3. It has a led light in one corner and a USB charging point. Light is actually always on when you open the lid and is very bright
4. It does still have the ´´lip´´ around the edge which people don't like especially on the side cases, which I have also to say is irritating and again my guess is to strengthen the frame
5. Mounting and taking off is very easy. A lot easier that the old alu cases.
6. It does have a central locking system which you operate either on the key fob or you can set to auto-lock in the Vehicle settings menu
7. It sits quite far back on the rack so there is plenty of room for pillion and roll bag or extra luggage.
8. No back rest for pillion which I think is a must. I´m sure that's available as an extra

I really need to get some decent stickers to cover the mass of black aluminium but overall I really am impressed with its huge volume.
Lets see how it fares up on my next French tour in a couple of months.
