R65 Green Laner.

Couple of hours in the garage this afternoon, clutch and gearbox fitted, fitted footrests and gear-lever , I’m thinking the footrests are a little high so I’ll have a think about DCF9A375-EF29-4C2A-95CF-40817168A6F1.jpegrepositioning.

Have you put longer rear shocks on? Is the standard swing arm and driveshaft OK at a greater range of travel? I can see that you've trimmed the brackets at the sides of the frame. Looking good so far.

You can fit an adjustable linkage to raise the gear lever,
Or I’ve some low g/s Gs ones that may fit the bill better,I’ve had a good look at your photos but can’t make out the footrest fittings well enough to see if they’d fit

The footrests are standard R65, I machined the rubber hexagon bars that the rubbers fit on to accept KTM footrests.

Started making a sump guard, a standard GS one mounts off tapped holes in the sump, I’ve replaced the engine mount stud spacers with aluminium angle which extends under the sump, the guard will then be bolted to the angle .

A little more progress, New brake master cylinder, hand guards, heated grips ,crash bars, pannier rails, nearly ready for the rewire, I’m using a PDM60 power distribution unit, so the wiring will be simplified, I’m using the original switchgear.

Looking very good….even a colour matched bellows on the back o& the gearbox onto the shaft….I didnt know BMW did them in red…..

Keep updating as you continue progress…… as it looks great, and we all love a good build report.

I felt the footrests were to high, after a bit of thought I made a set of mounts that bolt through the original holes but allow the footrests to sit approximately 2” lower.06E8221B-D1B5-4D6F-8608-D3D1D1C4F9D4.jpegE7011DD0-DB2B-49A0-BB1B-3D540D469B14.jpeg4CF5493F-9266-4FD3-A9E5-5380EAB75DED.jpeg
