Well after a 5am start and 4.5 hours of battling with the pannier frames and locking plates they are finally on and working !

New exhaust nuts and sealing rings fitted - time for a coffee break I think

Fantastic completion John. The Krauser panniers look great on it. Im sure you'll be glad to see the back of this one and another project moved in to replace it. Running so smooth too. Some talent 👏 👌

Looking great.

Haven't seen one of these models for years.

The new owner is going to be 'well happy' with this.

Next project?

4.5 hours to fit the frames ... Sir, it is that tenacity and level of commitment that sets your bikes apart. Have you dared to estimate the hours spent on this one? Congrats to the new lucky owner, you've got a belter and a bargain.

I’ve not added up the hours I’ve spent on it , it’s a lot I know that but I’m just happy that it’s now sorted mechanically and should give the new owner years of service

Up and out for sunrise at 0440 this morning to give the R65LS it's first shakedown ride . Did just over 70 miles in 2hours and happy to report the bike ran great with no issues . Starts on the button , handles well and brakes are good . Off on Sunday to deliver it over to its new owner in Ireland

Round our way if I get up that early I’m likely to come across deer in the road. I’ve hit one too many so actually stopped going into work early.

Delivering to Ireland sounds like a great adventure!

Will you ride it or trailer it John ?
Ride it over and fly home

I'm riding up from Durham to Cairnryan on Sunday and then on to Monaghan in Southern Ireland

Monday I'm heading over to Sligo and then up to Malin Head

Tuesday is a ride the long way round via the coastal route back over to Northern Ireland

Wednesday I'll be at the new owners doing a re-torque of the heads , valve clearances and check over

Thursday morning flight home Belfast to Newcastle

You're making a habit of this John, I see a future as an international bike courier👍

What a great adventure this has turned into, if it had of been me that bought it I would have been riding it back to home in Ireland the long way myself. Great stuff John 👍
