Rattling engine and seizing exhaust flap.

Well, great news, new engine arrived today :) install is planned to start a week on Tuesday and I hope it’s an engine without the common faults in it! I’ll have another three year warranty to find out!

Glad the end is in sight and you get to ride the bike.

Fella, anywhere near me? If so I`ve got a professional level GS 911 and I might be able to help (or at least diagnose what it is)?

And fanks, lads, for all the support.

All because they want to make things cheaper! But not necessarily to us.........

But i cant see that it makes them cheaper, indeed id say it was the opposite, what with the amount of claims for new engines the total must be staggering. Better to spend a few quid more at the outset rather than having to replace the hundreds of engines that are going wrong worldwide. Just as well for the 3 year warranty i say. You would be really pissed off if it blew up a few weeks after it expired.

Ah, not the bikes, sorry, I meant the components and yes I totally agree with you. The crunch will come at the three year point. Do I move on or risk a time bomb - I guess time will tell.

I doubt any 1250 will be a keeper after 3 years

What's the adage?

Never buy the first of a new model !!!

Best to get the very last of the old outgoing model - but many ignore it

Thats what i did last time, but time isnt on my side now, and had i waited then, bugger it, i probably wouldn't have bought one at all :augie:blast

Between a late 1200/1250 I bet there is little difference in ride & performance, not enough that either of us could tell or use to its potential

I do agree with that and, if I didn’t need it to design farkles for, I would’ve gone for the outgoing model at a cracking deal - a pal of mine got a Rallye GSA with TFT at a right good deal

Remember the problems they had when the LC first came out ? Tales of frames with no steering stops were all over these pages and was just the tip of the iceberg. Maybe i should have kept my 2013 GSA 90th it was well sorted.

Wish I’d kept my 2011 twin cam........ that example was very well made indeed

I do also remember the feeding frenzy known as ‘the tank slapper’ on the LC’s when they first came out
