Rattling engine and seizing exhaust flap.

Maybe i should have kept my 2013 GSA 90th it was well sorted.

You should have kept that one

Lighter than a 1200 GS Adv WC too

All you have gained with the 1250 is more weight and complexity and a bigger amount of loot to BMW - plus the potential of a rattling engine

Probably, but i've had a couple more bikes in between this and that one. Oh well just have to carry on and see what happens.

JB - what izzit you do, do you buy bikes then? I was at Squires recently and apparently there was a ride out to see ‘Johnny Boxer’ - was that you then??? Sorry, off topic.

Back on topic - I think it’s good advice to buy the outgoing model

Yep but for some the outgoing 1250 might be to late, plenty of coffin dodgers here. ;)

I do agree with that and, if I didn’t need it to design farkles for, I would’ve gone for the outgoing model at a cracking deal - a pal of mine got a Rallye GSA with TFT at a right good deal

Thats what I did, although it hasn't quite worked out that well for me!

You must have misheard then
I don't buy bikes (well only the ones I ride)

Talking of seized exhaust flaps I’ve seen that some people think (possibly rightly) that all the exhaust flap does is reduce noise. IMHO I also think it provides back pressure to improve engine performance and torque. Indeed, my gSA is decatted and refuelled and it does see to perform much better than standard. A pal of mine removed his exhaust flap (shocker - kept on seizing up) and all he noticed was that the bike tended to want to stall when pulling away - which he compensated for by increasing the revs.

So my point is that the flap does affect performance unless you do something radical like Decatting and tuning

C'mon guys its only metal and plastic with a good warranty. Ride it and enjoy if it goes tits up then mr BMW will sort it out for ya.

A very good point, unless you’re on holiday in the middle of nowhere, on limited time. ;)
