Rattling engine and seizing exhaust flap.

Bit more help would be nice for the thicko,s as every little helps, what do you actually think is happening. :beerjug:

How many are actually failing, mine seems ok at the moment (famous last words). I assume not every engine has an issue.

Hey, I've taken your advice and bought the stuff you recommended to put on my exhaust flap. So if it seizes it's your fault :)

Ah, re the flap I’ve found that either a) the headers are replaced on warranty (jeez the cost) or b) we force lube into the lower bearing or c) we simply chop our the flappy thing (which then affects performance). Our choice eh

What I don’t understand is that you never hear of the problem with the R or the RT or S1000R. I am on my second S1000XR and it’s never been an issue.

Totally agree - the only thing as bizarre as it sounds is the engine config?

The S has a completely different engine of course but you have a point. As for the RT I really don’t know - perhaps because the relative lower qty of RT’s sold means that the qty of problematic engines are much lower?

Well in all fairness the French Gendarmerie got fed up of having the RT,s in the garage so swapped to Yamaha FJR,s.

I was referring to the exhaust flappy thing which they all have in common.
