Rattling engine and seizing exhaust flap.

It is strange, since it is a similar design, that this does not appear to be a common issue with the K13. Perhaps bmw should start using those ones instead !

Imo its simply the way the ECU burns fuel in the boxer engines, and its the carbon buildup doing the damage, if they made it a servicable part job would be easier.

Agreed, if only they made it part of the service schedule.

Can't be many ex R1 owners on here then.

Ah, sans flap. That’s good. Still wouldn’t get one as the weight loss and increase in power cost is massive IMHO and the engine hardly needs it. When it’s not consuming itself the engine is a peach - best yet. I installed a refuelling device to my decatted 1200LC and that took care of the mid range dip but the 1250 engine has none of that.

Oh refuelling device, what might that have been, if I may ask, and yep 1250 needs for nothing, I did have a test ride, and it is a different bike, but not selling my goldilocks forever. :hide:hide

I use the rapid bike ‘easy’ here’s a link so you can read all about it. I think it’s a brill bit of kit, no big ECU flashing etc and ticks 9 out of 10 boxes as an alternative to 10/10 boxes with the additional ECU option which is difficult to fit and expensive (but good to play with :)

Ta Mark I must admit I did look at that before getting the AF-Xieds, it was a hard decision.

Tinker? Does it not have a simple trim adjustment? Sorry, I don’t know anything about the XF’d thingy

Yep Tinker means, I just change setting from 6, 7 , or 8 roughly little screwdriver and job done, and later when I get better with the GS-911 I will look at some of the values, but way later. :beerjug:

I’ve got a GS-911 professional, I know it can do bags of real-time stuff, can it also monitor AFR? (Air/fuel ratio)

Does that work with the 1250?
