Ready for 1st service

They lost me the moment they stabbed Mick Kinghorn in the back. I just got sick of using my time so they could earn more money, thats all its about now. All that "corporate" crap made them lose sight of what they were supposed to be about. They lost a lot of exceptional bikers, Rennie & Mick (Rennies successor) just to name a couple and a hell of a lot of good lads at grass roots level too. I'd climbed the slippery ladder as far as i could go and lost interest, although the things i was taught, by some very good people have stuck with me, and i still ride in the manner that Roadcraft suggested.
When someone started comparing the IAM to the National Trust member's and asking what more I could be doing, I knew the plot was gone.

Over the years I have been a committee member, vice chair, NO, head of RTT, manning stands, giving up my weekends/evenings to do drive checks and talks for 17/18 year old young drivers and still an employee suggested I should be doing more and making charitable donations.

Well, I'm doing nothing now, I go play on my bike and that's it, I have been well and truly fucked off by them.

Fortunately none, everything is fine AFAIK. Q/S is smooth as butter, no ticking or funny noises from the engine. No funny messages on the TFT so all is well.
Buy a lottery ticket

Nice 240 mile bimble today up to Gairloch and then on up to Aultbea and back to Garve, Hot day and only one sharp short rain shower so all in all fine ride out with my pal Duncan, (ex bike cop) Now sitting at 549 miles so by time it gets to Aberdeen its will be 620ish :D:augie
Derek,
Hope mr P wasn't pushing yòu to hard
Dont believe in keeping it below 6k. Loch maree and Achnasheen were created for bikes to open up.

That's one of them nice looking but slow S's: R's are quicker.

Apparently for every 3 S's sold they sold 1.2 GT and a whole 0•4 R's says it all really.

Great photo.

I always preferred the R. I had one on extended loan for a while but reckoned I'd end up with a long ban if I owned one. My son owned an S for a while and every time I rode it, I remembered why I liked my GS so much.

Pic courtesy of my friend Nik who used to be Boz on here. Taken at BMW Motorrad trackday in 2005. R1200S courtesy of BMW Motorrad. I was trying to hang onto Iain Duffus on another K1200S who had towed me round for two laps then put his head down and buggered off.

Iain was year behind me at school, so I know how quick he is, and how daft he was too.

The main disadvantage like the rr, is the lack of range.

I've got high 50's as mpg, and a low of 22, usually around 45ish which means looking for fuel around 120 miles, rr was around 100.

GSA is around 300ish which is also easy to do.

Most I've done is almost 600 miles in a day on K13R but I was knackered, where as a on a gsa you'll just be tired.

Then you probably know my friend Stuart who was his best friend at school and who now owns my old VFR800. I remember Stuart used to say that Iain was always the kid who would dive off the high platform at the swimming pool.

I think Iain was showing me how it was done because I'd got past him on my old 2004 GS while he was bimbling along stuck behind a truck on a K1200S on the A82 on a John Clark Motorrad day out earlier in the year.

Probably, I do recall Iain overtaking a bus, on his Z650, on the inside as it was pulling over, as I'd gone round the outside and the gap was no longer there. He thought he had the better line !!!

Oh to be young and stupid, rather than old and still stupid.

I thank you kindly young Sir.

The rain held off until playtime finished.

A great day organised by Mick Kinghorn, who said Hello to all those who were unable to be there.

I was a very good boy, and only misunderstood the no overtaking bit by passing other groups instead

i think you can go to 750/800 milage....just check the TFT version you have, If you have not got the latest , which has a 19 in it, tell them to update it

I thank you kindly young Sir.

You're very welcome. Not sure about the irony of "young Sir" when I've got an extra 10% on you....:rob
Full resolution versions of that and others if you're so inclined.

Was that really the rule of the day? I don't think you'll be seeing me on track at that event then.

Where do i find that info please ?

the last section of the TFT Menu is settings ,open that scroll down to version ...should read 00_019_180 if it reads 00_018_180 your on the old version I dont know the difference between the two , i think the new one helps connect better etc to bluetooth issues . Your bike should have the new version with it being a 19 plate , worth checking though. Updates can take over three hours, so book in ,in good time
