Hi all. Excuse my ignorance but I have an issue with my rear light. (2003 r1150 gs) brake light works but that’s it. Is it possible that the problem is in the cluster of wires from the ignition barrel to the next block connector. The ohms reading is a high number when I check for continuity along the wires from fuse to light connector. Any help would be great.

Is the bulb the correct one?
I got a replacement once and it didn't work, I started to think the previous bulb and this bulb not working meant it was the wiring.
Turns out I was supplied the wrong bulb!
I was angry but relieved at the same time lol
The symptoms was exactly the same brake light worked but normal light didn't.

The bulb is the correct one. I have tried a number of bulbs but still doesn’t work.
Use an AVO meter to check there is power to the fitting, before pulling everything to pieces. I had a fault with the holder on mine that resulted in no rear light. The bulb was fine, there was power, the bulb was just loose in the bayonet connection. Easily adjusted and 23 years later & 70,000 miles still working fine and with the same bulb.
As he says, always check the most obvious and easiest things first, could be as simple as a dodgy earth.

2003 should be one with no light switch??
Does the front sidelamp light up? with Ignition on or Ignition lock on and in sidelamp position?
If the brake lamp is working then it has an earth
Personally I think I would be checking for power on the Grey with a black trace the fact that you have high impedance and no Burned wiring ? Makes me think possible corrosion
Do the dash lamps and warning lights all work correctly ?
This Tool! Is your best friend when working at 6-12-24 Volt You can feed power or provide an earth and you can see if there is power or ground
AND one of these as well so that you can confirm there is enough current flow to light an incandescent bulb and not just an LED
To explain the power probe, may show a red light (+12 volts) so you think there is power there BUT when you try the Brass probe with its incandescent bulb it either does not work or glows very dimly Which indicates a fault on the Positive feed
Which is all you are looking at here because the brake lamp works so it must have a decent ground
