Rejected Toilets

I started to use the 14 bike in april couple ride outs say 3 to run the bike in @ 700-800miles, first service booked begin of may, than off to Germany same month did 2k so miles at 2700 all is fine, bike not used till 27th June, when i went away again @ 4k the water pump went and the box started to clunk and i had no front brake, it pulled into the grip whilst not stopping or activating the abs ! i found out the hard way when i was tramping up the stelvio and a wobbly box pulled out on me, i was nearly window licking :( my arse twitch and i thinks i left a brown onion in my pants... anyway I reported it back to the dealer via email and removed the side panel and topped up the wasser bottle as and when, on arrival back in the UK bike had done 5700 miles.

BMW assist dropped it off at the dealers whom yet again are in my corner, front brake had air ! Gearbox issue sorted, new water pump fitted, i also asked them to carry out 6k service all done. They test ride and report back water pump still leaking ! Contact BMW HQ they say strip out again inspect, it now can't be fixed the internal machining of the casing is incorrect thus when hot ie if used in the weather were having now it leaks water out the 6mm hole and down the block.

Remedy BMW want to put a new engine in the bike, me I'm not happy to say the least I've lost faith in the product 13-14 bikes are time bombs, after all my problems with my 13 bike i thought i could do without all this crap again, the dealer and my contact there Andrew have been brill yet again and i kind of feel for them.

They asked me to sleep on it and let em no what i want to do.

:(

Y'know, we can all have problems with certain bikes and I am not wanting a 'mine is better than yours' slagging match, but I am so glad the toilet didn't float my boat last year. It really seems to be a lottery in the reliability aspect with this model and is amazing how many owners are having terrible issues with what is perceived as a premium product. If Hondas new Africa Twin turns out to be a cracker, there could be a load of WC's second hand sitting in Honda dealers premises.

And a load of KTMs :)

Assuming that Honda dealers would take them in a part exchange ?

What happened to the toilet GSs???

They reset the clocks, added a larger tank and sold them as the toilet GS Adventure :augie :augie

It would be interesting to know what happens to them. I mean surely they're not just broken up and binned ?

More likely sold as second hand stock after been through a workshop and all the faults fixed why do the people who reject them have to keep quiet about the return deal

i rejected an 1000 mile old hexhead, got another bike and couple of weeks later they had retailed the bike to someone with not quite as acute mechanical ear as mine.

Nobody's been told to keep quiet, hence all the posts on here.:blast

Some posters have said they cant even tell anyone what the reg number of the rejected bikes but if anyone has rejected one feel free to post the reg number on here if your allowed to and we will see if we can track it down and find out what happened to it

I wasn't told not to :nenau I haven't posted the reg number of my rejected bike, as it's long been sold, and I don't think it would be fair to the new owner, if they are happy with it, and the problem has been solved.

Same position as nutty. No one has asked me to be quiet either!
The faults are going to be fixed prior to the bike being sold. Whoever ends up with my old bike has a stonking engine in it! It's a lot better feeling than the one I have now.

Thats the answer they were fixed and sold as used nothing more sinister I wonder is the dealer told the new buyer the full history of the bike before sale or was a bit selective with the truth.

Only the people who rejected the bikes know the terms of replacement but at least one stated on here he was not allowed to disclose the details of the bike.

All I would say is to anyone ever buying a 2nd hand vehicle, check with the dealer what work has been carried out on the bike. Any dealer who wouldn't tell me that wouldn't be getting my business.
I couldn't tell you what my old bikes new reg would be, mine had a private plate on so don't know the new one.
