To all and sundry.

09.00 - Starting from junction 5 on the M20 - at the top of the slip road on the North side (slip road from West - London Direction).

Tour through Kent in an anti-clockwise direction through mainly country lanes.

There are some bits of road where you can open up and have a blast but it's mainly minor roads & lanes.

If you have been on my routes before there will be the usual lanes with grass growing down the centre and under low hanging branches, tight corners with adverse cambers and tight up and down hill bends. The winter has left a good few potholes and other bits of road surface missing and lots of gravel and detritus along the centre of the road in lots of places. The ride is OK for bikes with road tyres - no off road at all.

Lunch break to be sorted - last year we stopped for lunch and people went their own way from there - I'll link in to a suitable hostelry and advise on the day

I'm running the route again before the 9th and will get a better idea of times.

The route ends back at juntion 5 on the M20 for those that stay the course.

The route runs well, there are a couple of sets of road works but the GPS routes around them so we'll deal with that on the day.

Attached map of start and finish point.

Please post if you're intereseted

I'm Definitely In And...

...for those reading on, and trying to decide, this will be a great ride out on a GS.

I rode with Woodsie on a reccy last weekend and haven't had such a hoot since I got my elbow down on a Lydden Hill trackday.

Go on, you wont regret it.

me please

Hi,
not a massively experienced in the sort of roads you are describing. I am looking to improve my riding skills. Any chance I can tag along? Not entirely sure I will be able to keep up so may have to grab the route off you and meet you at your pub.

O

The ride is all on open roads and to keep safe everyone will be at their safest speed - it's not a blast to get from point A to point B. There will (hopefully)be a range of bikes and different riding levels. We'll be operating the drop-off system so the group will stay together.

I'll post the route and you can have a look at it but probably better to ride with the group (theres hopeful for you again:augie) so that we can all help if anything happens...............:D

That's why we can't run to a timetable - it takes as long as it takes and anyone can leave at any time they like:thumb

I will try to be there too.

Like Charlie Brown I am looking to take it easy, I am still getting used to my GSA.

Ideal see you then

Great stuff - see you there

Dang!

I'll get along there, if the gig the night before doesn't knacker me out completely...

If you're there well be seeing you

I will try to be there too.

The ride is not difficult- just different if you don't often ride narrrow lanes with cr*p down the middle!! We'll be gentle with you

add me to the list pls

Added

Looks like it's been worthwhile sorting out the route

So far so good.....................

The reckonning stands at:

Woodsie & Mrs Woodsie
Ditchwater
Charlie Brown
Blind Lemon Ade (if he recovers)
GS_or_Bust
MGJ
Robin
Dave & Helen (from GSClub)

Hope there'll be a few more posting...............

Count me in, please. It'll be my longest ride on the 650 - doesn't sound like an ideal route for the 1200GT!

I went along last year on a Pan European and it was no problem at all, a K12GT will be fine.

Heres some footage from last year showing probably the worst road conditions that were encountered.

So... how far? how long? and how fast?

being as I'm old, unfit, and have to stop for a wee every 30 minutes... :rob

The ideal qualifications for the ride:D:D

The whole route is about 120 miles.

I will do another full run and report the time taken.

As fast as we like - to suit the road conditions - so it will be quite sedate. On the trial last weekend Ditchwater and I were able to keep a steady pace and keep together. The group will spread out and we will use the drop-off system to keep everything together and to the pace of the "slowest".

Take it as it comes and we will all have a good ride:thumb

Thanks, but need and practicality have nothing to do with it. It'll be a chance to get all Ewen'd up!

You're right there...........

..................it was the road between Lower Hardres and Pett Bottom just up the hill above "The Duck Inn" - which looks like a very nice place to spend a few hours.............................
