Riding up to Llandrindod Wells next month from London via Swindon, Gloucester, etc. I dont want to do it all in one hit and stop over for the night on the way up. Can any one suggest a hotel half way up, safe bike parking?

Thanks

Patboy

Steer clear of Swindon and Gloucester.
Stag at Stow on the Wold has good parking then pick up the A44 at Moreton
Royal Hotel Ross on Wye then ride via Skenfrith to Abergavenny. Then to Llandod via Talgarth.

Alternatively head to Oxford to pick up the A44 all the way to Llandod. Stop at the Falcon in Bromyard.

Holiday inn near hospital in Swindon is fine.

Parking round back.

You can usually park your bike tight outside your bedroom window, reception will give you a rear room on ground floor usually if requested.

Used loads of times, ideal for a Cotswold’s thrash without Cotswolds prices….

Any Travel Lodge should be fine, just remember to wedge a chair under the door handle at night or you may wake up with a stranger letting himself into the room and a sore botty.

Just a bit of advice. Keep safe.

Have stayed at the Kings Head in Bledington very close to Stow on the Wold. Lovely old pub with great safe parking and good grub.

Haha. Brilliant.

Thanks for all the replies, either Ross or Stow on the Wold

Also, the Kings Head at Ross-on-Wye has a small carpark at the rear

Have stayed (and eaten) at both, would stay again in either. Food better in the Kings (IMHO), but more than acceptable in both.

The 'Man of Ross' good for a decent pint... 2 mins walk from either.

not been in there for decades when my friends Frank & Brenda Garrett ran it

they previously ran the Spread Eagle in my home village, Walford. (Now the Mill Race). Crown & Sceptre by the Market House was my favoured pub when I was a local.

there's a Nepalese restaurant down the hill that is pretty good https://yaksandyetis.co.uk/
